like seriously am not kind of comfortable with it, i think it will infringe into some ones private life, i for one wil support it to some extent if well utilized judiciously to checkmate cyber crimes and terrorist activities, the western countries are already using it so therefore it is long time overdue.

the problem with nigeria is never corruption nor politicians, it is the mentality of Nigerians. The always want to achieve something without "SACRIFICES" . If fashola destroys slums for real estate development most nigerians will call him; heartless and inhuman, but if a foreign national comes and complain about those slums in nigeria, those same Nigerians will call him a slow-poke and corrupt individual for not destroying those slums. Sacrifices must be made for a greater good. Go to america and ask how the american dream and revolutions was realized, the will tell you about sacrifices, the will tell you how citizens placed National interest before theirs for America to become as great as it is. Go to china, decades a go china was worse than Nigeria, corrupt maoist and socialist dominated the govt, loated the funds, bt when the chinese man put national interest b4 theirs, marched in millions, died in dozens, in the verge of protest against government policies, the corrupt politicians started developing the country like wildfire for fear of losing power, who in china decades ago ever dreamt of driving on flyovers? But today the live in skyscrapers and have the best policies to help the poor, not because the sat at home and wait for the govt to stop being corrupt, but sacrified their livelihood, freedom, food, life, health for the greater national interest. Go to UAE, Go to saudi arabia, go to great nations and ask what got them to the hieght the are today, all the say is "SACRIFICE" for the sake of the nation. In nigeria ,a citizen will suggest break up as the solution to religious problem! Now how daft is that? A citizen will suggest break as solution for corruption! Now that sounds more daft! All some nigerian see are corrupt politicians forgeting that the citizens are corrupt to let the corrupt politicians have their way! What happens if nigerians are paid by corrupt officials to vote 4 them during elections? When those corrupt officials ascend to the throne? Dont we all shout corrupt government? But the bigger question remains who voted them into power? How corrupt do you think you are by voting them in?
___
A child wakes up from sleep and shouts lets split up nigeria, forgeting that, this is the same nigeria his great grand parent spilled blood and losed wifes, daughters, brothers, fathers and mothers to build as one! Now who is the greater disapointment? The corrupt politician you voted into power or you that have betrayed your blood(forefathers)?
___
what happened to #OCCUPY NIGERIA ? Did corruption also kill it? Lets face the fact! Untill we unite and one and march in drones and battalions against the leaders we shall never have the Nigeria our Founding Fathers Fought For. I am a Nigeria and am proud of it! I wont think twice if am asked to sacrifice my life for Nigeria to become great! That is the Nigerian spirit and i will die defending it

seunfly: Not a new thing, infact i don't believe it that we don't have such system in Nigeria.
However you know our politicians, they don't know how to use government aparatus without abusing it for their benefit only.
EFCC, ICPC, AMACON and many similar organisation are very good ideas but they will always abuse them and stop them from functioning.
I have notice something about Nigerian government, if they fomulate policy u should know that:
1) it is either they want to steal from it.
2) they want to use it to fight their political enemies.
3) they just want to use it to campaign.
But they will present it as if it is for the public benefit.
I know many will disagree but this my own opinion.
. Thats 9ja 4u, hope we can now depart from the past.

Re: Should Government Monitor The Internet? Your Candid Opinion by ANYPEN(m): 5:41pm On May 06, 2013
why is no one talking of the huge amount of money this is costing the nation and that if some little character problems of our leaders is corrected, we wont have to go spending a cut-throat amount of money to achieve the usual. Government should of course monitor the internet which i believe is a very important aspect of securing the nation but it shouldn't take such an amount away... cause normally, these are what the NPF should do as part of their job.

The government that has failed to provide the basic necessities for its citizens like Water, Road and Light should add an unwanted burden of monitoring the internet.

Please if they must monitor something BOKO HARAM is there. tongue lipsrsealed

Euroclydon: It is done in civilized climes to checkmate scammers and terrorist communications... its high time we adopt such!

@Bolded

Problem is, Nigeria cannot be classified as a civilized clime. This is a country that has no data base, everyone is doing what they want and getting away with it, lack of order and lawlessness is the norm. So what are we talking about? Have we finished solving the boko haram problem?

these guys are aware that cyber politics will have a greater effect in the polls come 2015 and as we all know, the dumb #team PDP# wont stand a chance so they resort to online editing,
see how its gonna play out, at the heat of campaigns, all the negative GEJ comments will disappear from cyber space, political rivals will be arrested and quizzed based on comments made online, within which the judiciary will help them delay those cases till after election.
for those of you in support, do you know that if this law pulls through, you can be arrested for mentioning boko haram and then quizzed and detained, they know they have nothing on you but you must part with some money to regain your freedom, that will be the end of this road.

the other countries that successfully monitor the cyber space have effective judicial system and little corruption, in our case, one phone call a politician as low as council chairman will have all your data.

have you guys wondered what has been happening with the so called gsm reregistration data? doesn't it bother you how people
big boys who haven't met you before, calls you first by your name and the next thing he is in the office without asking for your address.

Nigeria is a total crap, any politician that wants you dead already has tools to get you, lastly, the cyber space recently has changed the way things are done in the country, after the cries on theodore orji on the internet, Portharcourt road Aba got a face lift, so many social ills have been corrected though the social media.

Nigeria is not ripe for what you guys are asking for, the increase rate of assassinations in the country today is a function of the GSM registration done lately, a country where a local council chief flaunts court orders, a country where Chris Uba, kidnapped a sitting Governor in broad day light, a country where Adedibu a local tout decides the faith of oyo citizens, i seriously cant trust such Govt with my privacy.

you will be surprised that Boko will infiltrate these Agencies through acts of corruption and wreck more havoc with information they have on the agency and people.

Imagine a country where the NPF lease riffles to Armed robbers, even hire them police radios to perfect their escape.

If this will quell the menace of scammers and fraudsters on-line, let it be.
Afterall I have someone currently in a problem by this on-line scammers.
They are contributing seriously to the dwindling popularity of our country Nigera.
They need to be curbed.
