Chest pain is a common encounter in medical practise, there are various causes of chest pain , however;these causes could range from mild to very life threatening medical emergencies

Just as have been written above,the causes of Chest pain are bound, but for the sake of simplicity I shall be discussing exclusively the very common causes of chest pain, with some first aid management tips.

chest pain can be caused by the following ;

<li>diseases of the lungs (respiratory)
<li>the heart(cardiac)
<li>Oesophageal problems( gullets)
<li>Chest wall problem


Respiratory or lung diseases; Viz a Viz
Pneumonia
Pleurisy
Tuberculosis


Heart ( cardiac) causes
Coronary heart disease (heart attacks)
pericarditis (inflammation of the heart sac)


Oesophageal problem
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (heart burn)
Fuctional dyspepsia ( Indigestion)</li>


Chest wall diseases
coastochondritis (ribcage pain)
Fibromyalgia (muscle pain)
Ostheoartritis ( especially in elderly)
