Five Reasons Why Man United Will Crumble! by Nobody: 10:17am On May 10, 2013
Here's Five reasons why Man United will crumble after Fergie's exit - This Opinion is not borne out of sentiments but Facts.

1.The Man United job is now a poisoned chalice

How do you follow one of the greatest managers in history? This will be the question Fergie's successor will be asked when he takes over the Old Trafford hotseat this summer. Following the retirement of Sir Matt Busby, the club went through six managers until Fergie took over in 1986. During that period they won the sum total of three FA Cups and were relegated. In fact, of the 39 major trophies the club has won, 33 came under either Fergie or Matt Busby. Be afraid, United fans.

2.The football landscape is changing

Over the past few years, Man United have battled against an increasingly changing football landscape, with wealthy benefactors bringing almost instant success to their clubs. The emergence of Chelsea and Man City as football superpowers threatened to end United's dominance of the Premier League, but the force of Fergie helped fight them off. Can they do continue to do the same without him?

3. Will Fergie's latest 'fledglings' flourish in his absence?

While many will point to United's next generation of talent to guide the club through the coming years, just how good these players will be without Fergie in charge remains to be seen. This season's title triumph was largely inspired by Robin van Persie and Michael Carrick, both of whom are hardly spring chickens. The only United player shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year award was Danny Welbeck, who's scored one goal in the Premier League this season.

4. The Glazer debt will catch up with United

The Glazers debt-driven takeover of Man United has not stopped the club winning on the pitch, but as Red Devils' finance blogger Andy Green has stated, “If it wasn't for Fergie's miracle work United could have followed Liverpool or even Leeds down the slippery financial slope.” The same blogger claimed earlier this year that it is “very possible that the debt will be virtually eliminated in the next few years”, but he might like to revise that forecast if Fergie's successor flops.

5.The midfield still isn't good enough at the highest level

Paul Scholes' decision to come out of retirement and the continued use of Ryan Giggs shows how Fergie failed to leave United with a top class midfield, despite it being patently obvious that they weren't good enough to compete at Champions League level in recent years. Wayne Rooney has even been touted as a midfield option and he may not even stay at the club. Fergie hasn't sorted this situation and his successor will be playing catch up with the likes of Bayern, Barca and the Europe's best. Neither would Felliani's acquisition help Issues.
