Please house, a friend of mine owns this 2003 Honda Accord. Whenever he refills his a/c gas, it last for about 2 months, and the a/c will stop chilling. He took the car to an a/c mechanic the first time, and the guy said it was because there was no oil(the green oil they normally put when refilling the gas) in the a/c. Now, the a/c has stopped chilling, and the guy is saying he will pressure-test the compressor and that he should be getting ready to buy a new compressor for 80k. He narrated his problem to me, and i decided to ask the question here on his behalf. Please car gurus, what can be the problem? Because i know the mechanic is not making any sense as to what the problem can be. WHERE CAN ONE GET A GOOD A/C PROFESSIONAL IN PORT HARCOURT?

The compressor's front seal is worn-out n thereby the gas leaks slowly but surely from there.

Its a small rubber/metal cover located on the upper side of the compressor. (Tell yr a/c guy to un screw the top of the compressor n check for sign of oily substance *gas leakage*) and if u see dis, den its the front or main seal that needs to be changed.

Its a common issue wt EOD compressors, bt gud tin is u dnt nid to buy new compressors just get a new seal.

-its sold for 3k here in Kaduna.

(Good-luck)

All of u have hvac systems suffering from leakage. It's important u find the source of leak than throwing parts at it. It may not help throwing parts. For some who said their techs can't find the leak, if he had done a diligent work then the leak may be hidden in the evaporator

Evaporator leak is usually denoted by vapor coming out of the ac vents wen u put on ur ac. Anywhere there is leakage is usually covered by oil. If that part is exposed, the oil will attract dust. So collection of oil and dust at any area is a source of the leak. Lastly ur tech can use a dye laden gas to fill ur system for easy detection of leakage.
