That is, they only remember God when all have failed. The easiest way for Joseph to get to Egypt was through the road of trial, betrayal and wickedness. God is not the author of bad but He can allow bad things to happen to good people which will ultimately be for their own good. Jesus was good, yet He was crucified so that the world can be saved and sanctified.

We have a temporal good. And we have a permanent good. If you were to chose I know you will chose the temporal good. But if God was to chose He will chose the permanent good. 1st Peter 5:10. You need to go through the fire for your beauty to show because you have a golden destiny. God is not looking for the qualified, He is trying to qualify the unqualified, the ways of God are different from that of men. That situation is turning around for your good. God saw that situation before it came, if it will kill you, He would not allow it to come. He allowed it because right inside it is your testimony. It is time to praise God in the storm. Stop waiting to praise Him after the storm, praise Him right in the storm. Your testimony is sure because ALL THINGS WILL ULTIMATELY WORK TOGETHER FOR YOUR GOOD IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME.
