13 Lawmakers Holds Secret Meeting To Impeach Gov. Amaechi by PallyG(m): 5:07am On May 30, 2013 |
CLANDESTINE moves to impeach Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, heightened on Wednesday as eight members of the House of Assembly were said to have shifted loyalty to the camp of the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike. Though the names of the lawmakers were not mentioned, the number of anti-Amaechi state legislators has suddenly swollen to 13 out of 32. Five members of the House had, from the outset, taken a position against the governor since the beginning of the crisis which is threatening the existence of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state. But the Speaker of the House, Mr. Otelemaba Amachree, said the number of members of the House, who had been swayed against the governor, was not enough to impeach the governor. Amachree, who spoke with The PUNCH through his Media Assistant, Mr. Jim Okpiki, stated that with 19 lawmakers on the side of the governor, it would be difficult to remove (Amaechi). He said, "We are aware that between five and eight lawmakers have compromised and are making moves to impeach the governor. But they don't have enough number to impeach the state governor. "They have to impeach the Speaker first before thinking of removing the governor because he (Speaker) will not betray the governor. Mr. Speaker is never a traitor and he (Amachree) has not seen any reason why he should give up on Amaechi. "Apart from that, the lawmakers that have compromised would have to tell the world the governor's offence, because as far as we are concerned, Governor Amaechi has not committed any impeachable offence." The Speaker challenged the compromised lawmakers to come out in the open and explain to Rivers people why they had decided to betray the governor. It was, however, learnt that the eight lawmakers, who were swayed to Wike's camp during a meeting held outside the state, decided to hide their intention in order not to jeopardise the plan to unseat the governor. Amaechi had, during an interaction with some youths in the state, declared that he was not afraid of being impeached, saying he had done his best for the development of the state. He urged the people to use their voter cards to remove "irresponsible governments" from public office in 2015. It will be recalled that the House of Assembly had adjourned sine die (indefinitely) after suspending the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Nsirim, even as a caretaker committee was sworn in to oversee the affairs of the council. The development had deepened the political crisis in the state, with security operatives from the state Police Command sealing off the council secretariat about a month ago. i hope my fears don't come to pass, so far Amaechi has tried in governance, i pray it doesn't happen ,if it does i pray the next occupant will just be better than Amaechi. going by the antecedent of our present day politicians , they have no political ideology, anything can deviate them. |

The next thing we shall hear from this Speaker is the; "twenty-one impeachable sins of Amaechi and why the House of Assembly cannot sit by and watch him run the state like his personal estate". Amaechi was a speaker and should know this fact already. "Men's heart/loyalty are bought with gifts and lost without it "- N. Machiavelli 2 Likes |

How did amaechi ttry? No doubt initially he was doing well, buh now the stupid man is something else, he heavily cuts d salary of civil servants, (sometimes upto 50%) without recourse , d latest he did was to health workers, n wen dey tried talking wt him about it he said "come and collect it 4rm my pockets" d man's arrogance is also something else, I think it can be likened 2 ohakims (of imo state). Embarked on a monorail project(extimated 400 billion) dat we d rivers people have been against, why trying a monorail dat won't go round d state? We re yet to have a 12hr steady lite in a day, n u re coming for a monorail, d railways we already have are now refuse dump sites, n cesspool, cutting our money incessantly for a stupid project dat will be left haalfway, why he can'kt cut down on his own flamboyant cost... The man needs 2 go home n learn some attitude; believe me if dis man was 2 b performing to d delight of d rivers people, we would have stood for him on dis adversaries! Buh he has betrayed his own people, bite d hands dat fed him n now has no solace 2 hold! His on a lonely work my broda, n I n d rivers people careless about what happens to him. I rest my case. 2 Likes |

This is very un-becoming. Like the bokoharam news, this Amaechi's saga now looks like a de-javu to me, cos as soon as I login, the next thing one will see, are this Amaechi's brouhahas everywhere. |

Amaechi, God will not forgive u. Since u decided to sut up a dump site close to where people live and call it waste to wealth, and the pungent and horrific smell can be percived within a 20-30 KM circumference from the dump site in oyigbo may u never percive anything good in ur life. You build roads and abandon up to 50% and cause heavy trafic jams within d affected areas. After borrowing so much money to build school to the tune of 125 million per school many of them are yet to be used and others not completed, u claim to be building schools for children not bearing in mind the original population of the pupils before starting. Where will d rest go? U continue to deduct salaries of civil servants. All the roads in and arround ur community are tarred but some other places have very bad roads. Just b4 d toll gate the road has been horrible for up to 3 years now with no lasting solution. All you want is to be bowed down to as lord god of host with ur terribe arrogance. I pray Omehia Celestine ur cousin defeats u in d supreme court ruling. |

One does not require the brains of Einstein to understand the chain of events that has already been set in motion. Seven billion Naira is definitely more than enough money to sponsor an unconstitutional coup. Plot to impeach Amaechi thickens Source |
