No doubt, the social media is one of the best things that happened to socialization. Generally speaking, its essence

is to connect people, but like almost every good thin; there has to be a twisted end. We get tagged like face book,

linked-in like twitter, we give hi5’s like its our ultimate Pinterest, and are ever good 2go like tumblr…..yeah

whatever.

As awesome as it sounds , there are people who is given a second chance would never join any social media! Today, we

focus on facebook.

When you add friends on facebook, be sure to look at their profile especially their interest. I say this because one

15year old Alyssa Bustamante who listed “cutting and killing people” as one of her interest on her profile stabbed a

9year old Elizabeh Olten multiple times before slitting her throat, and hid her body in a shallow grave she had dug

before the planned crime. She said the reason why she did this was because “she wanted to know how it felt”.

In 2009, a teenager Ashleigh hall was killed after meeting a convicted sex offender who had been posing as a 16year
old boy on facebook.

Now this next case is what I call extreme. Sarah , who was separated from her husband changed her relationship status from married to Single, obviously because she was kind of single as she didn’t stay with Edward Richardson her husband. Call it jealousy if you like, the dude crept into her home and waited till she came back and killed her. WTF? This guy’s reasoning is way out of normal.
Well, this next one does not necessarily have a strong grip on facebook, Holly Grogan, 15, was tortured and tormented

by bullies at school. The frustration was too much for her to bear that she changed school yet, the torment continued

there. She received numerous messages on her facebook and the bullies did not stop there, they even posted lots of

abusive, nasty messages on her facebook wall. That was it! She had had enough! On Wednesday 16th 2009, she went to a

dual carriage way and jumped from a road bridge that was near her home. She was hit by passing traffic after the fall

and died.
Alas, one of the recent “death by facebook” is the case of 15year old Nichole cable who was kidnapped and later found

dead. Kyle Dube, 20, who set a fake facebook account with the name “Bryan Butterfield used it to lure her into going

out of her house while he waited in the woods wearing a mask. When she came by, Hopeing to get some marijuana, he

seized and duck-taped her and dumped her at the back of his father’s pick-up truck which as according to the

affidavit which did not give details of the actual cause of her death.

She was missing on may 13 and her body was later found on the night of may 20.

What gives this sad story a funny twist is that Dube, according to reports told his brother that he intended to

kidnap Nichole and hide her. That he would later find her and be the hero. High risk.

You don’t want to go further, We are popular with the 2go rape which made national news in Nigeria etc. The social

media that brings with it goodness could bring no mercy.

My advice? No one can predict the future, but we an influence it…..be careful!
