Mohammed set a new record in bride price payment in Nigeria by paying N1 million cash and a brand new luxury car as dowry for his wife during the wedding fatiha.

Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, and Isa Yuguda, Bauchi State governor are acting as representatives of both families (respectively) in line with Islamic rites.

Meanwhile, the wedding dinner is to take place tonight at the ThisDay Dome in Abuja, and the attendees are expected to be notable politicians, government officials, military chiefs, and personalities of big businesses.

You already know this is an event for the upper class and people of high society.

You know, traditionally in africa, we don't sell our daughters, so, people just pay say N700 or so as dowry or highest N10,000. but N1 million and a brand new car is whooping in comparison.

Its a record no doubt, especially in the north where the brides family is expected to do more. Do not forget that irrespective of the items required for the bride price, money is never accepted in large sums, one million is a huge sum
