*step 1:lets say you want to import a rottie.You Should first identify what you want on the internet.Mind you that all rotweilers or alsatians or any other random breeds varies from sizes to size and any other features,but it still represents the breed standard,thats why there is something like dog shows,and best of breeds.And international dog shows,so that there won't be any deviations from the breeding norm.Backyard breeders are everywhere.Even in Europe !
*step 2: search the web and visits nimerous websites.Look for the pictures of their studs and dams (do not buy if their are less than 2 studs and dams).
*step 3: goto www.Akc.Org .Compare the breed requirements with the kennel you want to buy dog from.Don't be in a haste,you might regret it,good puppies doesn't make good adults,good adults bring good puppies,rely heavily on the parents pedigree when choosing a puppy.
*step4: find him/her on facebook. This is the most important aspect prior to payments,you might loose it here. He must be commenting on facebook incessantly,he must display his/her dogs on facebook . its suicidally appalling what they put in there for pure breed.I saw a neapolitan adult in a kennel from a farm they said is the highest farm in nigeria,the quality of the dog is in no way near the quality i saw in della stradone vesuviano kennel in italy. Pure beast with massiveness,that sight rekindled my love for exotic breeds.The dogs i relish having in my kennels in a five year periods are: mastiff,neapolitan,kommondor,great dane,st bernard,pyrenean mastiff,aksaray malakli,land seer and alaskan malamute.

I absolutely agree. I was looking to purchase a Lhasa Apso here in Nigeria but I have changed my mind. I will get a pure breed dog from South Africa or somewhere in Europe once I am ready. I cannot vouch for the quality of exotic dog breeds sold in this country.

It is not just about importing dogs that helps make a good breeder its knowing into full details info about the breed you intend buying. This will help when buying from anywhere. there are many dog scams now especially from South Africa

They mix all sorts of things,why would someone cross a caucasian with a german shepherd and sell it for 20k. It should be 1k.

Also the fact that there is no kennel club is Nigeria, is contributing its quota to these horribly bred dogs.

Also to intending buyers if you can't afford a dog don't buy cheap ones, a rottweiler look alike can never be a rottweiler

The Boerboel Dog Breeders Association of Nigeria (BDBAN) is hosting a Nigerian Boerboel Appraisal and National Show from 1st - 3rd November 2013.

The 3 day event will be held at Tunwase Schools, 22-27 akinola cole crescent, Off Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, LAGOS, starting at 10am each day and closing at 4pm. The first 2 days 1st and 2nd November will be for the appraisals while Sunday, 3rd November will be for the Nigerian National Boerboel Show.

The event is open to all Boerboel owners, breeders and fanciers. Interested members of the public are also welcome.

Appraisal fees per dog for BDBAN members is N5,000 per dog and N15,000 per dog for Non BDBAN members.
A gate fee of N5, 000 is payable at the gate for fanciers of the breed who would like to come and have a look and feel of what an appraisal entails.
