Afam4eva: The goalkeeping position is also up for debate. I think Eyeami should have caught that first goal. The ball wasn't hit hard and was very slow .

The first goal na pure luck and defense error. Our defense were lost for a split second, and that was all it took for the Uruguay player to tap it into the net. At least Enyeama dived and attempted to save it.

artade:

Like, seriously? That second goal came from a classic strike. Chances of a goalkeeper saving such is like 2 to 8. Even with super sharp reflexes, any goalkeeper would need a bit of luck to save such a strike. Smart defenders always try to prevent such strikes.
God bless you abundantly jare. Why can't people give credit to forlan? for God sake, neuer, buffon and de gea in post won't stop that strike. the strike was just C.L.A.S.S.

I've seen Shay Given catch better shots than Forlan's.
Dude call a Frog "a Frog", Diego Forlans goal from that Range was Unstoppably UNSTOPPABLE- its one of the Best Goal's I'v ever seen, point blank the end...
Thats why defenders try to avoid opponent players from having that kind of instance in the first place...

For me, d nigerians did well except for Ideye who didn't do d job he was assigned to do, d substituted Akpala was not seen at all, we shud learn from our mistakes n get experience but loyal n discipline strikers. Mikel n Omeruo did exceptionally well. I just can't stop wonderin wat will happen if omeruo were to get injured. Our defence wud be doomed.

GrAnDwEeZ: lyk c.riusly.. .since okocha retired. .we dnt ve a setpiece taker. .c corner kick slf

If you followed Okocha's career as closely as most of us did, you would realise that he only became a freekick specialist at the twilight of his career. This team is still young, and we're still building. So just be patient. Someday, Mikel or some other player would grow in to that role. Believe me...

Osaze shoulg not be recalled to the team, we will get it right soon without calling the old legs.

For those shouting emenike ......., he could have flopped also in this tournament, just as IK uche was a flop in AFCON. We will get it right, very very soon, the most important hurdle for the team is to qualify for 2014, world cup, Lots and lots of friendlies using a mix of players will give us a solid team at all compartment of the game , we have guaranteed players at the defence at the moment (omeruo, oboabo, efe, echiejille), the midfield and the forward are were the real work needs to be done. Eagles will soar. Mark my word. A world class team with a bunch of early twenties guys. The super eagles destiny is so bright. If we make it to the 2014 world cup, we will be the first african team to make the semi finals .

We are technically out of this tournament even if we beat Spain.

If we beat Spain, best result, 3-1. We will be on 6 points, +6 goal difference. Spain will be on 6 points, +9 goal difference. Uruguay will only need to beat Tahiti 6-0.

Even with that most generous assumptions, we won't qualify.

Of course, me and you know we can't beat Spain 3-1.

So it's as good as we are out.

Why do you lot critique everything?

Who in your current team is better than him?

We all saw his work rate and how he held the attack line pretty well at the 2008 olympics in China.
Re: Nigeria Vs Uruguay - Confederations Cup: (1 - 2) On 20th June 2013 by mensdept: 1:50am On Jun 21, 2013
Very stagnant performance. We simply dont have any dominant player on the team. The youn boys in the back (minus Ambrose) have potential to be very good.

In midfield its a 1 man show, and though Obi has skill, he's no Okocha, and needs someone else to freakin step up.

What the hell was up with the Babatunde substitution. The guy needs to be dropped and his entry in the game basically gave Uruguay the technical advantage.

Musa runs and runs and runs, but also goes 40 minutes watching the ball as if he drank too much garri during half-time.

I'm in favor of bringing Odem dem back into the squad because he's an aggressive player who knows that when there's a counter attack one should be making their run and not back peddling like an old woman.

I beg Nigeria tried. Without Moses, Emenike and Onazi, then Oduamadi got injured in the match yet we held our own against the 3rd best team of last world cup as well as the team representing Copa Americam That's same South American zone Argentina plays.

For a rebuilding team, we are on course.

2. Nigeria defeated Spain 3 goals to nil.

3. Tahiti beat Uruguay by a lone goal.

When Forlan got that ball, I shouted 'goal' cos Diego is a world class striker, please look at the strike again, I don't think any keeper can do something as regard that. You don't give forlan and Cavanni space, they will tear the net, both can play curve-shots from any angle. So don't blame the keeper, blame the SE's centre forwards that didn't position themselves well enough to receive passes, and the useless and weightless Musa that was like a piece of paper on the pitch today.
