13,000 Teachers Gets Employment Letter In R/S. by stebell(m): 12:44pm On Jun 24, 2013
In line with its promise of boosting the quality of education in the state, the Rivers State Government has finally doused the anxiety of successful applicants for the 13,000 teachers jobs advertised last year by the state Ministry of Education.
This follows the directive by the government for the successful applicants to pick up their appointment letters from Wednesday this week.
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the state Ministry of Education, a copy of which was made available to The Tide in Port Harcourt.
The statement said that successful applicants could pick up their letters either at Senior Secondary School Board, Emekuku Street, D/line or the Universal Basic Education Board, Elechi Beach, Mile I, Diobu all in Port Harcourt.
It described the gesture as a fulfillment of government’s desire to ensure that children are given the best in terms of educational opportunities.
According to the statement, “we are adding another 13,000 because our children deserved the best”.
Meanwhile, a board member of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education  Board, Hon Lucky Worlu has confirmed the readiness of the government to issue the appointment letters to successful applicants.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, at Ndele yesterday, Hon Worlu described the gesture as the largest move by any government in the country to curb unemployment among its citizenry.
He urged the public to appreciate Governor Amaechi’s effort by continuously praying for the governor.
It would be recalled that the 13,000 successful applicants were among the over 40,000, who applied for the job.
Their selection was based on series of interviews conducted in the last half of 2012 and finalised in the first quarter of this year, through the instrumentality of a world class human resources portfolio management and recruitment for inclusiveness and diversity in the selection of the best hands into the work environment.
