All those shouting Boko are obviously unaware Kano already has numerous malls and shopping complexes (Country mall, Jifatu stores, Sahad, etc, which have never been a target for the militsnts

Yes, because a shopping mall is what the poverty stricken people of Kano need right now. Nothing eases hunger pangs like sitting in the parking lot of a mall, in the hot sun of the Sahara, watching as the rich people shop till they drop.

I don't think so,this will create jobs for the almajiris and take most people off the street. They can be employed as cleaners,gatemen and other available post in the mall. It a welcome development to northern nig but i pray boko harm should keep off and allow everything go smoothly as planned.

And for all those people insinuating that boko-haram will bomb or attack the mall, i doubt it. There are shopping mall, hotels, eateries and big business centres in kano, but those BH will never touch such building rather they will blow up churches, banks, MTN mast, police stations, burn down school and attack innocent citizens but they will not blow hotels and other social gathering. I think they know what they are doing,

Port Harcourt is more mordern even though I don't consider either of PH or Kano as befitting because of lack of high rises. IMHO only Lagos and Abuja look presentable as cities to me.

The problem with some people is they don't travel, they beleive in what they hear only, so they autimatically believe all hausas are like un-educated almajiris they see in south, the popular Abuja sahad store started from kano.
Bokoharam is like kidnapping in south in terms of publicity, from stories you will think that every body there is a kidnapper but if you go there you will see that many people are just hearing about it like any other person. So people think that in north bomb is every where, people can accidently march on it on ground. Bokoharam only went to kano to terrorise people like any other places and left but they are not from kano, no any kano person arrested in connection with bokoharam that is why FG did not impose state of emergency in the state. Kano people are hausas' Igbo, they only think of business.

But yes i agree. Ignorance is a serious problem in Naija, people know little about their own country except what they 'hear' and their own small little kingdoms.

Same way oyinbo will ask you, do you speak 'Nigerian' or Nigerians will ask 'are there any Hausa in UK' Yet they will be forming most 'enlightened' in the world.

I shake my head when people liken Kano with places like Yobe, Maiduguri etc in terms of Boko Harem menace.

Boko Harem is alien to people of Kano. The only time these militants made great impact on Kano the was the attack of 20th January 2012 and recently when they attack the emir. And you know how these people value and respect their monarch. Boko Harem and people of Kano are big enemies now. No place for them to hide and operate.

Kano is peaceful now.
