This write up 'coz d@'s wot I feel it is, nd nt a news piece looks suspicious and well intended 2 drag d name of d bank in d mud. A critical review of d write up says it all. D writer initially adduced d reason for d sack 2 poor performance of d staff in line with d bank's measuring standard. He later stated d@ d reason 4 d sack was as a result of 'low patronage' from customers. I beg 2 differ d@ both reasons r quite parallel nd unrelated. Like I said, dis write up lacks credibility and I strongly condemn it's content. Do ur research properly, u'l discover d@ DB is one of d first 3 top performing banks using d following indices- Patronage, Staff welfare, Profit, Salary and other measuring indices.

There's nothing as scary as working in a bank where your job is not secured. I wonder how they are able to concentrate on the job sef. And most of them will be competing by living an extravagant lifestyle instead of planning for the future.

You people need to chill abeg! Diamond Bank engages in regular recruitment especially of entry-level staff. Career progression is in pyramid shape, not everyone can/will reach the top. If an institution establishes redundancy in identified staff, don't they have the right to terminate appointment? A business is established TO MAKE PROFITS, this isn't the goddamn civil service abeg, lets be objective.

The only cause for alarm will be if their benefits weren't completely paid, otherwise management reserves the right and prerogative to hire and fire as it deems fit! (in line with best labor laws/practices of course).

P.s I hold no brief for Diamond Bank, just hate to see subjective gibberish being bandied because a muthafucka with an agenda has a laptop and internet connection. The Big Corporations aren't always the bad guys, sometimes slackers abound in the system, i'll be damned if some lazy-bottom negro with a sense of entitlement feeds off my hard-work. This ain' no socialist state, bruh!

That is the new management trend... management now hide under non-performance whenever they want to down size. Right from day one, they'd planned to sack certain number of staff but face with the question of how to manage it so as not to give bad image of the company. Hence, companies nowadays hide under non performance because its of great advantage to the comapany unlike outright sack....think of the company image; the savings arising from non-payment of final entitlement etc...God should just free us from the emergency capitalist.God will sort every body out

What a lousy report. I shake my head in disgust at the rubbish that passes for journalism these days. I have no doubt that the name of reporter who wrote this story would have been promptly included in the sack list were he or her to have been a Diamond bank employee. The incompetence is too gross to be forgiven.

lekanolas: Diamond Bank Plc yesterday relieved over 100 of its staff their jobs, for not measuring up to the Bank’s measuring standard.

National Mirror was told that those affected, which included those that have spent over five years with the bank have been given their sack letters.

According to a source close to the bank, there was palpable tension and a brief stop of office activities at the headquarters of the Bank in Lagos where many of those affected were serving.

It was gathered that the financial institution allegedly downsizing was necessitated due to low patronage, which the bank is experiencing in recent times.

National Mirror was not able to get the actual number of those sacked, but was told the number is over 100.

A company source however said the affected staff were those who performed below average in the bank’s yearly assessment test.

u have said it all. the truth is bitter, however, it must be told...there is no job security in Nigeria banking industry.for those aspiring to work in the bank, best of luck...however, don't forget it is one leg in and one leg out. those guys are mean, the use and dump. i thank God for delivering me from landing a job in the bank...i was at the medical recruitment stage of Zenith bank and FCMB, before God brought a Government job to my rescue.

rumor or not, the truth is bitter... there are no job security in the Nigeria banking industry.

Billionaires: A bank has no business hiring more than 1000 people if they are actually putting the right technologies in place. Apart from Security Guards, the bank doesnt need much staff apart from database, network and policy makers and marketers. They should learn from America's revolutionary internet banking technologies.

Well spoken my brother. In fact, I do wonder why the number of staff we find in Nigerian banks. It's very annoying seeing most of them doing nothing and carrying file here and there. What is the use of having a network of electronics service since everything has been stored in the central database for accounts holders info, networked through out the branches. You are not supposed to have more than 10 workers in a branch of a bank. It is ONLY in Nigeria you find banks paying more than oil companies.

Go to the US and see a working system in their banks. It's a pity
