You messed up OP, dubai of all places? Hell where u thinking? You could have used that money and time to go to Germany/Netherlands/Denmark where they have lenient immigration laws With very strong currency. Why in Gods name would u choose to go to a muslim country of all places with strict immigration laws? Also you gave up too quick. I guess you're not the kind of guy to keep pushing 4 Likes |

agboolakolade: You where very unfortunate. I know many people who fell victim of such circumstances. My story is different. A friend invited me to Dubai, not an agent. I only spent $100 of my own cash and my friend covered the cost. I got a job in 2 weeks and I earn over 650k Naira equivalent. I even met a Zimbabwean lady who worked in my company but her sister lobbied her into a higher salary job. You were just unfortunate. I have been here for a year and my family and friends are proud of me. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Even though I think u took an UN wise decision by traveling but I admire you cos of two important things 1).You set a goal and did everything within your power to achieve it.That's impressive 2)You were wise by finding out there was no headway for that dream at that particular moment, then took an alternative. Am really impressed&motivated. Believe me,I have learnt something today 16 Likes 2 Shares |

Life in abroad is awesome but all depend on meeting the right ppl to get the right information and having the right residence to enable you work and have some right to govt funds. You can not expect a better taste of any country with a visiting visa. Visiting visa means you are just goin to a country to visit a friend or family member for holiday nd to see how the country looks like without recourse to govt funds or lookung for job.Looking for work with a visiting visa is just like looking for a better well paid job without having the right certificates, you know thts not possible. Even with student visa, if you don't have your money to spend, life could be miserable but when you have the right status, life abroad { UK,USA and Canada} is very sweet. 5 Likes |

My experience is different. My goal after an initial stint in the UK was a resolve never ever to travel out with my own money. Today all my trips abroad are paid for by my employer. I missed going to Deira the last i went to Dubai , i stayed all through around the world trade centre . I learnt one thing though, those Arabs are snubs and i won't encourage even my enemy to go to Dubai. Even on a company sponsored training, my other delegates were forming, but trust me, i chose every opportunity to let them know that I flew thousands of kilometres to attend a training that some of them were attending from distances as close as doha and Bahrain. It was an eye opener on cultural superiority but in all, the op took a wise decision to have bailed when he did. For those insisting on abroad things or nothing, i want to say that sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side because it's fake. 14 Likes 4 Shares |

Especially when you get to sharja ,diera naija boys full even when UAE granted them amnesty to go home they refuse to leave ,another thing that I saw is our girls mostly Yoruba and Igbo girls doing prostitution in palm diera I wept When you get the job then you will exit for visa change on those their low life jobs ,the most annoying thing is that you will see Nigerians doing security jobs ,cleaner ,housekeeping jobs they refuse to do here in naija. Dubai is not a place to hustle .don't be deceived ,go there spend your cash and fly back Op the rice smelling like perfume part of your story lol 2 Likes |

Re: The Story Of My Trip To Dubai by gbemfag: 9:32pm On Oct 11, 2016 |
My guy you said it all. A lot of young guys want to go out there looking for greener pastures because of the economic hardship in naija but most of them don't know the truth about where they are going. It is not only in dubai you have this type of wahala America is not left out. Many are in America doing 12 hrs job with no break in between and after paying rent and transport you can hardly save anything. Let us pray for naiJanuary to be better that God should pass through our land then all us go enjoy am. A word is enough for the wise. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

I also came back from Dubai on friday. I was there for a month. Some of the things u highlighted are correct. The problem wit dubai is if u don't hav enough money for start-up, then there is a problem. You must hav cash to pay agents for work or to do business. I got a cleaning job myself witout paying an agent wit a salary of 70k but I rejected it because I'll hav to work for long hrs, I hate stress. I connected a friend to take it. It's all about meeting the right people. We went to an area of low class people in Dubai. Deira is for the biz minded. I never went there during my stay unless I needed to buy somtin. Na so that your friend too go dey form sey im dey for diaspora abi SMH!!! www.nairaland.com/attachments/4024041_image_jpeg_jpeg6f95b5e7a24ad4fc0808d6698fd37362 www.nairaland.com/attachments/4207170_fbimg1469018943096_jpeg2e87af2b28b00dc62a4dbf71ba6f4cf7 www.nairaland.com/attachments/4269133_41663981jpeg83b5009e040969ee7b60362ad7426573_jpegac277a0d7502f8e77b3aa5be5b080eb8 9 Likes 1 Share |

riddler4real: Yes he was unfortunate. But mind you, the absolute majority of Nigerians in Dubai have the same plight. Very few are fortunate to get what they are looking for in Dubai. I was in Dubai precisely Dera for two months. I got the same story to tell. So I can relate to everything he said. Most Nigerians I saw in Dubai are wasting away there and unable to get out of the country. Thank God I gave myself brain and came back to Nigeria before I got stuck in Dubai and unable to get out. If I because of what people would say if I came back to Nigeria and I remain stucked there, I won't be in the US today. 12 Likes |
