Some Governors Claims Of Achievements Are Propaganda – Mark by FreeGlobe(f): 1:12am On Aug 03, 2013 |
Senate President, David Mark, on Saturday took a swipe at state Governors who continue to claim that they are delivering dividends of democracy, when there is little or nothing to show for it in their different states. He spoke while declaring open a two-day retreat for the Senate Press Corps in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital. According to him, We have cases of Governors who claimed they have constructed tunnels, but you cannot find them. We have cases of overheads and you could not see them. We have cases of those who claimed they constructed dams and there were no dams. Mark while commending Governor Godswill Akpabio for the transformation of the state in the areas of infrastructure said he has “demonstrated an uncommon courage and political will, despite criticisms from his enemies, to transform the state through development of infrastructure. The state has within the short period of Akpabio’s tenure witnessed tremendous transformation,” he added. Earlier, Akpabio in his opening remarks urged the media to do away with negative stories about the country, but concentrate on the positive sides. “Good news has a lot to do with the image of not only the Senate, but Nigeria. Let’s change the face of the country and look for good news that can mold Nigeria and democracy. He described the Senate as a “soothing balm that handles national issues maturely to give hope,” adding that “Mark’s humility is worthy of emulation”. http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/07/28/some-governors-claims-of-achievements-are-propaganda-mark/ |

FreeGlobe: And still yet, the question wasn't answered. You can't stand a Yoruba man wits for wits. You're dull, unintelligent, backward and archaic Small wonder your states are the most backward with erosion ravaged lands, poverty stricken men and women, kidnappers, robbers and ritualistic Ogun state already generates more in IGR than three of the highest IGR generating SE states out together. Oyo has a higher GDP than any SE state. Since 1999 when our people have been charged with leadership, we have done nothing but move forward while your people still live in trees and caves 10 Likes |

This is the same David Mark who bought a Golf Course in Scotland for 2 million pounds in 1999. Where did he get that kind of money in 1999. He was the Minister for Communication under Babangida. He was one of the Generals who said Babangida didn't have to surrender power to a democratically elected President. The same Mark who said phone service is not a right in Nigeria. This is the same David Mark who as Senate President earn between 400 million Naira and 600 million naira while most of Benue indigens live under $2.00 per day. This Otukpo chief needs to shut up for ever. David Mark would be sitting in prison if Nigeria was practicing through democracy because he has a lot of blood on his hands. 8 Likes |

When is his term expiring? I think he's been there for long. Who is he, btw. The lamborghini presented to tuface as a wedding gift, could have helped a lot with rehabilitating the poor. Or is nigeria a rich country? 2 Likes |

tpia@: Benue is one of the most underdeveloped States in Nigeria. Mark is the richest man to ever come out of Benue State. He has more money than 90% of people in his his state, combined. He has been a billionaire for years just by being a politician. He bought a Golf Course in Scotland for 2 million pounds in 1999. 3 Likes |

Na political praise-singing and patronage na. They, the Senate, went to Uyo to do their retreat, and as it's common to Nigerians,he,the Senate president, start singing the praise of the governor, unaware of the massive frauds going on behind the scene. By the way,80% of the over-hyped infrastructure development were done in the capital city,Uyo,alone. Do you measure development by what you see in the capital city alone or what you see in the whole of the state? I'm an indigene of the state,so I know what I'm talking about. |

OP is a well known rabid hater of Fashola and any other good person or thing from South-West. So not surprised that he didn't mention the name of any Governor in his cave-land who have impoverished them making them run to Lagos to live under bridge and in slums like debased animals. Shamefully his Ibo Mods (Sexkid and Afam) maintain a criminal silence wheen their kinsman runs about unclad like an insane bull high on horse pee... 2 Likes |

bobthebuilder99: Ok..it is obvious now that Fashola is running as the APC candidate for President. Fashola has as much chance of ruling Nigeria as Awolowo: zil chance. Anway the earliest a Yoruba man can rule Nigeria is 2032. Work the math out and you will arrive at 2032 or there about. 1 Like |

Mark wasn't actually specific about the governors being referred to, could have been his state(Benue) governor. Can anyone point out what Gabriel has achieved in Benue since he got elected over six years now? bobthebuilder99: Ok..it is obvious now that Fashola is running as the APC candidate for President. Nope, he's needed more in the SouthWest than any other place. |

He made these comments in Akwa Ibom. With all the noise we are hearing from Akpabio's camp, i think Akpabio should be more worried, especially with his relationship with Gej being a cordial one and Mark being one of the top men from the region that want to replace Gej in 2015. |
