I was using Abro ATF b4 but not as it had dis problem I drilled all d abro and put Dexron III D stil nothing. Dou d former oil was very small. Guys wat could be d issue with d gear? Most likely its d gear selector cable.get ur mechanic to adjust or change it.

you need replacement if actually the oil was small according to you. in fact you have been driving the car without oil. look for a mech to get it fixed.

try this jack up the car on all for wheels then go under the car follow the gear selector cable and unbolt the cover the covers the connection between then cable and gearbox, unhook the cable from the gearbox then move the gear selector on the gearbox, if the gears are being selected and the wheels moving then like someone said your gear selection cable is broken or something wrong with

and check your gear position sensor cables if there connected

those are the signs that the gearbox is gone

generally dont waste on repairs if the repair shop is not transmission especiality just get another gearbox

@Op. R u sayin it wont come off P at all OR It comes off P and can slot into N, D and reverse but it doesnt engage (ie move in D, R, 2,1) cos these r 2 different issues

i had this problem on another car. i was told to get 60k for another gear. i scanned the car and i bought a 3k sensor and the car was fixed to date

If you had no problem prior to changing the alternator then it must be that your electrician has short circuited your TCM and rendered it incapable of communicating instructions to the gearbox itself.

This may happen if the positive terminal on the alternator is bridged with negative as that can easily happen while using a spanner if the battery was not disconnected before carrying out the alternator replacement.

Have the ECM checked for any possible damage if all other physical examinations prove abortive.

Carry out a diagnostic scan of the TCM/ ECM and see if there are any codes related to the transmission.

I drove d car and got home ystday but dis morning it started again. You'll shift d gear to D,R no way,d car won't move as if its on P or Neutral. I contaced a Toyota transmission specialist in Ladipo,he told me the fibre is weak and needs to be changed.

Fibre he mean the clutches, they need replacing but not all people can rebuilt an automatic gearbox so be careful you might spend more than you must when it is not done by a specialist,might be better of getting another gearbox

Use ATF Z1 cos they are the ones manufactured for Honda cars 1998-2010. Make sure you flush out the old oil properly before replacing.

is your car jetta fsi ? and it's not selecting well? d car nid to be scan, I think either d brain box, the gear multi function switch or may b oda selection switch of d gear nids 2 b change.

I av a slighty similer issue with my lexux es300 the problem is the gear selecting from gear one to two, it drags and takes longer to change to two alone infact i encountered a big problem when i was traveling especcially when i need to overtake trailers pls what can b d causes and possible solution thanks

I have a similar issue on my 2003 Camry. How did u sort out this issue? Did u repair the gear or u got another gearbox?
