Unfortunately you did not back any of your claims with any sources, I have shared SIPRI sources with you.

Where a vehicle serves is very, very important in determining the durability and effectiveness of that vehicle.

You simply cannot deploy a vehicle you don't trust to the front lines.

I have attached my source for the K142, SIPRI.

The Nigerian army actually had 5 units in service, we have seen pictures of 3 units destroyed in combat operations. It's say to assume that they might have all been destroyed in combat or withdrawn from service.

Dozens of more units and MEDEVAC variants were delivered earlier this year. Dunno why they haven't been deployed yet.

The Kenya military police populary known as the red Berets are tasked with varying military cases, from fraud and forgery, among other sensitive and complex crimes, and they coordinate with officers from the National Police Service, especially the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The Kenyan military is one of the most corrupt in the world. It starts from the top. That's why it's budget is not made public. During the Westgate siege the KDF soldiers were caught on video stealing, in Somalia they were involved in the illegal charcoal trade,.....

I knew there was a story like this.

How many Tanks in total, I read 33 units, any actual known figures?
65 T-72 tanks (give or take) had already been delivered to South Sudan b4 this highjacking incident. I believe the highjacked ship was the final shipment. It included 33 tanks, and 7 Multiple Rocket Launchers
They were all transported via the old rail to Nairobi (Kahawa Barracks) Satellite imagery showed they stayed there for a while and were pictured being used in training exercises.

While the heavy T-72 tanks did stay, I have never been able to spot the MRL systems evrrr since they were pictured being offloaded in Mombasa port... If we had them we would have surely used them in Somalia especially during the initial Operation Linda Nchi campaign when Alshabaab was fighting like a conventional army (they had uniforms, some APCs, Toyota technicals mounted with anti aircraft guns and moved in formation.. etc) a MRL would have been perfect hellfire for them.. So the lack of evidence points to a scenario where the MRLs which were part of the cargo from the highjacked ship still made their way to S.Sudan

33 T-72 Tanks, that's not bad. The Tank numbers begin to look respectable when you add the Vickers MBTs in KDF service.

It seems Al-Shabaab is now a spent Force, lacking in capabilities to conduct operations in any significant scale?

Are there any news on military equipment procurement from Kenya? Apart from the C-27J aircrafts I don't think we've seen any other significant purchases.

USMC and US Army are just different, you can hardly compare any smaller army in the world to their budget, structure etc. And it's still not the best comparison, both are built in the US, both share the same weapons and some of the systems too, both manufacturers supply more equipment types to the branches, in case of AH-1Z, it even shares parts with UH-1Y.

But the MRAPs are just completly different than any other branch uses, shares no parts with them. And I didn't say they are the same, what I mean is the problems that come with buying the spare parts. Can you imagine the soldiers ordering so many different parts from so many sources and then distributing them? That's the real pain in the ass, especially in case of war. Even countries that diversify their arsenal usually maintain just a few sources of equipment.

As for the REVAs, so do you have any source for your claims? You can share the photos of their terrible performance, if they are so common it shouldn't be hard. Cannibalization is common, nothing special that would prove said vehicle is mediocre. I've sat in REVA before, that thing is simple but definitely not obsolete.

And the purchase doesn't say anything about their performance, rather that simply the CS/VP3 is cheaper and therefore Nigeria could offer to buy more of them than the REVAs.

I've just read the rest of your answers and sorry, I don't have time for this. SIPRI is awful source, SIPRI also claimed Angola has BMD-3 that they have never ever received. Not sure if they finally fixed it in newer issues. It often contains a lot of innacuracies. I can't blame you for using it though, it's probably the only source that claims any number, it's just not very reliable from my experience. And thank you for providing me with some sources, after I asked you, but also with adding on top of it more statements, you have again, not backed by any sources. I backed my claims and you ignored it.

Okay, quoting paragraph by paragraph.

I don't know why you said this but are you implying that the Nigerian military is a single entity?! Many people on this platform are used to referring to the Nigerian military as the Nigerian defence forces. We Nigerians has countless told you people that it is called the Nigerian Armed Forces. The Nigerian Armed forces are not referred to as a defense force and it's not a single entity. Infact, in Nigeria people believe that the tri-services are not working very much in unison. All purchases of the tri-services are not inter-used. It's just like saying that equipment of the Nigerian Navy can be used by the Nigerian Army meanwhile it's not easily that possible.

Like Kabe1 said, The Nigerian Army operates the Ezugwu MRAP, Ara 2 MRAP, Alkali MRAP(prototype), Isotrex legion MRAP(UAE), Bigfoot MRAP in active service. The first three MRAPs are made in Nigeria. We must understand that their is a difference between Isotrex legion and Isotrex phantom 2. The latter is an APC. Those American MRAPs were donated and I'm not really sure that there much in the from lines.

The Reva MRAP was purchased at the time when Nigeria was in a dire need of armoured vehicles to transport troops in the front. Then, Eeben Barlow's men were training the Nigerian 72 SF, AFSF and the MRAP was recommended by Barlow. Well, I learnt we purchased at least 40 of those MRAPs but those MRAPs has been since phased out. Nevertheless, I saw one of them captured from ISWAP in the Timbuktu triangle last month. The REVA had a huge failure rate and mechanical issues according to what I heard from troops.
Look, I know we all like to look at Wikipedia and say things. I'm sure you saw ferrets and Saladin in our equipment lists, but do Nigeria still use ferrets and saladins in the front?! NO!

Just because you sat in a REVA doesn't make it 100% efficient. The REVA looks good, we Nigerians are not saying that South Africans make bad products but the REVA wasn't good enough for our war against Insurgency. The Bigfoots were effective that's why we have atleast 200 of them.

Okay, so I looked into my files where I have pictures of Nigerian army. And I have these types:

South Africa: REVA MkIII, Marauder
USA: MAXXPRO, BAE Caiman
UAE: Isotrex Legion, Isotrex Phantom 2
China: CS/VP3 Bigfoot
Nigeria: Ezugwu, Proforce ARA

To add to this, Nigeria army also operates highly diverse armored personnel carriers like Mengshi CSK-131, KIA K152, VBL, KrAZ Spartan, Otokar Cobra... And no, all of this is still in service, none have been phased out. Also my list might not be complete, I was never really interested in Nigerian army as much as in other ones, so I only have a few photos downloaded. Anyway, this is a lot of types and I haven't even started writing list of
other vehicle types where Nigerian army is just as diverse. This is logistical nightmare in my opinion.

There is also this Nigerian MRAP that I have seen a couple of times, articles claim they entered service but I don't know their name or if that's true.

We're talking about the Nigerian army here. The Nigerian army doesn't operate Marauders. The Airforce special forces does and that's 3 units in 407 Air combat training Group Kainji.
Also, Isotrex Phantom 2 is an APC not MRAP. We've been operating otokar Cobra 1 since 2003, many has been lost. Many officers died in that thing.

I understand your concerns about this being a logistical nightmare for the Nigerian army but as Kabe1 said most of the MRAPs and APCs has been phased out. You have no idea how many MRAPs we used to lose to IEDs on a daily basis. This equipments numbers are not stagnant. We've to replace them. The current Nigerian army leadership has been determined to setup infrastructure in order to have 70% percent of our APCs and MRAPs needs available from Nigeria in the nearest future.

It's always good to get context. Where were you back then? Did you have this belief all along and you didn't want to hear anything else that didn't support your narrative?

There was a conference in which the Chief of Defence Forces explained everything.. And b4 you laugh me off for believing the General, He did admit that some soldiers looted! I will come back to this at the end.

Two things happened:

1: The commanding officer on the ground gave permission to the soldiers to help themselves to water and food from the supermarket stored since the whole ordeal took days to end and they had rushed in to the scene without such supplies... So what might appear as looting on camera is actually just easily explainable

Gen Karangi has previously said that soldiers had only taken water because they were thirsty but on Tuesday, he said two soldiers had been sacked after being found with items such mobile phones and cameras stolen from the shopping centre.

Army spokesman Col Cyrus Oguna said a local commander had given the soldiers the go-ahead to take snacks from the supermarket.

Gen Karangi added: "There might have been poor judgement on the part of the commander, which is an issue we are dealing with."

Here is a video of the CDF admitting to some soldiers looting and that 2 soldiers had already been courtmartialed and jailed while a third was under investigation together with her wife.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=QFLBjRv1FRw

Kenya's military has jailed two soldiers found guilty of looting during last month's Nairobi mall siege.

Kenyan Defence Force (KDF) chief Julius Karangi announced the military action against the members of a special combat unit in a rare press conference called by the country's security chiefs.

"Discipline is our core driving point and we are not playing with this issue. That is why we have taken action on these soldiers," General Karangi said, adding that the guilty men had stolen mobile phones and cameras.

He also announced that a third soldier is facing a court martial after being found in possession of a mobile phone that was suspected of being stolen.

However, General Karangi rejected reports of systematic, large-scale looting by KDF troops, showing video at the press conference which he claimed countered such arguments.

2: After the fire broke out, Orders from above came in that all cash from Banks, Forex, Tellers had to be secured from all safes so as not to be destroyed by fire... So once, again, what might appear as looting on camera could be something else... Eventually KDF gave back $3 million dollers it had secured from the mall.

The Kenya Defence Forces yesterday confirmed that it took money for safe keeping from businesses at the Westgate Mall.

Military spokesman Emmanuel Chirchir tweeted that KDF soldiers took over Sh300 million and other items from banks, forex bureaus, a casino and Nakumatt supermarket.

“Over 300million (was) repatriated from the banks, forex and casino at the Westgate,” Chirchir said on Twitter.
https://www.the-star.co.ke/news/2013-10-05-soldiers-repatriated-sh300m-from-westgate-major-chirchir/

_________
If KDF was as corrupt as you want us to believe, and that the corruption started from the top. The CDF would have never had the courage to admit live on TV about the looting. He would have never had the will to clean up the bad apples by cortmarialling them, instead he would have denied the truth and taken it to his grave. He would have been afraid that if he took action against 3 elite soldiers for indescipline yet he was also corrupt, he would have risked the rest of the soldiers from the same unit leaking 'the truth' about what really goes on behind closed doors in the barracks.

So when @NTSA says "The kenyan military leadership Wants to maintain high standards of discipline within the service." It's the truth cause we have seen time and time again that when mistakes happen within KDF, they take punitive actions to correct them and make sure they serve as a lesson to others, That's how you know that the vision is to become a more professional, capable disciplined force. In the case of Westgate, mistakes happened and punitive action was taken regardless of rank, skills and the embarrassment it caused

BTW: A little secret I may let you in on. While a detailed budget for KDF is secret. The Auditor General gets full access as per the law. If you wanna know about corruption in the military, read the AG's report..

Any indiscipline within the KDF is punished. The army admitted to looting at Westgate and the culprits were arraigned and punished accordingly.

REVA MRAPs no longer exist in Nigerian army service. The vehicles proved to lack the technical characteristics required to operate in a Nigerian environment. Phased out, and obsolete.

Marauder MRAP - 2 units used by the Nigerian Air Force for Base Defence, not used by the Nigerian army. Different Service!!

24 units, second hand, donated to the Nigerian army in 2013/14. No longer in service with the Nigerian army

All the above mentioned vehicles are the primary MRAPs employed by the Nigerian army in the North-East.

You are wrong, the fact that the Nigerian army bought some of these in the past, doesn't mean they are still in service.

Mengshi CSK-131- 100 units acquired - in service

KIA K152 - 6 units acquired - significant possibility that they have all been destroyed in combat.

VAB,- Do you mean the Panhard VBL -Nigeria purchased these vehicles in 1986(36 years ago) withdrawn from frontline service and into storage.

KrAZ Spartan - Phased out or destroyed in combat.

Otokar Cobra - purchased in 2003, initially withdrawn from the front-line, but around 15 units were recently put back into action.

You are yet to provide any evidence to support your claims that there is a logistical Nightmare currently unfolding in the Nigerian military MRAP deployment.

Can you post that evidence you claim to have?

Kraz Spartan is still in service. It was seen in the documentary made by babajide otitoju

Africa is a continent not a country. The way we make statements make foreigners think we are a country. Saying "not many people in South Africa can afford 135 dollars a month" will be much accurate than generalising everything.

I know Africa got poor people but let's be guided and precise with our statements. Each African country has different realities.
