Nothing new here, we've been expecting all of these since the past 3 years.

Super Mushak to replace the Air beetle and Diiamond trainer

Super-Tucano to replace our long serving Alpha jets

JF-17 thunder to become our primary multi-role fighter.

Nothing new here.
I disagree. The "New thing" here Is that "IT IS ON THE VERGE". grin

It's not action packed IMO.
Try the already mentioned 13 hours
And see how effective comms and excellent marksmanship saved the day.

...... Although not a surprise, what actually would be a surprise is the Rotary wing assets the Nigerian Army would get and the sort of APCs Proforce Defence would supply to the Army.

Why is it only your defence Web that is carrying our own news. Am sure someone will soon claim it's fake news. It is even happening at a time when South Africa is sending pilots out their country for training.

“These are fresh graduates from the NDA. So what we are giving them now is basic trainings and when they come back we will assign them to other platforms based on their performance,” he said

Am sure the once going to South Africa will have to fly something close to commercial planes.

Glory hunting continues.

anybody that have not watched "we were soldiers" should request for a ban from the Mods. What of "Hamburger hill" or flowers of war( that Chinese lone soldier deserves 100s of posthumous medals) you guys should never ignore the classics because they are pure with less cmputer graphics and effects.

'We were soldiers' and 'Flowers of war' are brilliant films the way that Chinese Major cleaned out those Japs in 'Flowers of War' those Sniper and Ambush Tactics were INSANE!

They have served us really well. Hopefully they get replaced by as much as 24 units of A-29 Super-Tucanos in the light attack role.

Photo related, full glass cockpit of the A-29.

Unless the Board of Inquiry uncovers something serious (like a problem with the re-fit) its not a big deal. Mainly just good real-life practice for the Ships Damage Control teams and Navy Firemen, and of course the cost of repairs.

I am not quite sure where this fits in the scheme of things but this piece of News has been trending for quite a while.

One thing that is becoming increasingly apparent is that the NAF is increasingly following the path of the NN in gradually re-equipping itself and letting the public know, It would be good to know what kind of Ground radar systems are being supplied, ditto the mine clearing equipment, Lastly I am not keen on any Gunboats made outside Nigeria at this stage, maybe they are of some special design that Nigeria does not make, the conventional thinking is these type of boats are already being made in Nigeria. cheesy

The Yak-130 would be better in my opinion.

As it would cover the whole portfolio of capabilities the Nigerian air force has in the Alpha jets. Endurance, speed, light strike etc.

Nigeria has 12 units of MB339CD models stuck in italy because of contractual issues. They could be brought back to complete possible Super Tucano numbers.

The YAK-130 is a great light attack/trainer aircraft, a natural replacement for the Alpha jet but for some reason Nigeria hasn't given much thought to Russian aircraft.

We are looking at ex-German Fast Attack Crafts (FAC), Not new builds. As for the ground radars, that's what we've been asking for. Base defence and better situational awareness.

We have to give the Nigerian navy and JTF a lot of kudos. In the past 18 months, the Nigerian navy and JTF have purchased over 354 Gun boats, and of this number only 8 units were bought from abroad.

It is my humble opinion that we quit the importation of vessels in the range of 55 meters - 10 meters. These are ranges we should be able to deliver, however, we need to improve the time frame they are delivered. It is an embarrassment that it took the Nigerian navy 4 years to build a 40 meters vessel. NNS Andoni II (SBD II) should have been delivered 10 months, not 48 months.

What i actually find interesting is, they are kitted like the everyday Nigerian Special Ops soldier we see in the N.E. No disrespect to Nigeria, but i was expecting those SEAL members(only SEAL members use the FN-SCAR) to look all "gangster".
