Nigeria only has two options for fighter aircrafts. Russian and Chinese, and we are going for the Chinese/Pakistan JF-17.

Although the J-10 would have been a much better option in my opinion.
hope botswana wont get its Gripens before your JF-17 arrive grin

What percentage of Somalia is in Coalition hands and what percentage is Shabbab?

It's seems there's a significant Shabbab attack in Somalia every other day.

We got the mine clearing vehicles from Slovakia. The U.S mainly supports Nigeria with training, transport planes and OPVs. Nigeria hasn't bought any IED detectors from the U.S.

No.... the U.S donated mainly bare-bone, stripped down MRAPs which we haven't even deployed to the N.E or anywhere for that matter. Zombie Relics!

The U.S is only a partner in fighting Terrorism in Nigeria on CNN and in the loud mouth of Christine Ammanpour. In reality they mainly play almost insignificant roles.

The U.S ambassador has assured the Nigerian army they need not worry about the flat tires, in his words, I will be there to push these sophisticated vehicles to Sambisa!

Someone mentioned Hamburger Hill? In fact the 101st survivors wanted to kill their CO,Col Honeycutt. They took over 50 KIA for what?? The following week the pos was abandoned. Its no accident the 1969 battle was the last serious US combat in Vietnam. By this time drug abuse and combat refusal were so rampant in even elite units commentators said the US armed forces were in "a state of collapse."
Bravo two zero was another masterpiece of propaganda-complete BS! After the book another SAS guy on a similar mission released the truth:they were compromised early on and were KIA and POW save one. In the book they dismantled an entire mechanised regiment!

it was a very unfavorable terrain for the Men of the US ARMY. Who were already war worn as at that time.

overhypedsteve:

Militarily the Americans completely won the war.

This is a fact.

** RANT STARTS**
What happened is that they secured the South and withdrew, Nixon (blessed Republican) was deeply feared by the North (he intentionally created the impression amongst them that he was insane) promised (in the Paris Peace Accords) that any Northern agression would be met by America returning to the South. He also promised massive military aid to the South.

But as we know, Nixon was replaced with Ford (but cowardly Democrats won the Senate/Congress). The North started testing the South with some minor border skirmishes, America did nothing (Democrats blocked it in Congress/Senate), the North escalated America did nothing (Democrats in Congress even started to block military aid to the South) and well... the rest is history.

Ironic how we saw the same thing again in Iraq, the Republicans pushed the American military to a hard won victory, but the Democrats (Obama) in their pathetic obsession with short-term peace, pulled out too soon and cut support too soon. The only reason they didnt pull out of Afghanistan as well is because Republicans took back the house as well as the Senate.

In the end of the day its all political, now the Democrats love to remind America that the Republicans brought them two costly wars which America lost. But in reality, it was only lost because of the Democrats (and one was actually started by them as well!)

**Rant over**

Also, did you know that an underground newspaper run by liberals in the US Army raised $50,000 to be paid to the soldier who killed Col Honeycutt. In reality, the 101st remaind loyal to him with all 3 attempts on his life being made by soldiers from other units.

Moral of the story - liberals are cancer.

Nigeria isn't planning on getting the JF-17. Nigeria would receive 3 units of JF-17 thunder multi-role fighter jets this year and a follow-on order of at-least 22 fighter jets in the years ahead.

Online sources claim the NAF is getting the 3 Block I JF-17 fighters for $25million. That is about $8million apiece! How reliable are these "sources"? , given the fact that there is a $15million price tag on each fighter. Also, which Advanced Jet Trainer will be used to transition to the JF-17?.......The NAF currently has no supersonic Advanced Jet Trainer. Or would these airframes be flown by PAF contractors?

Speculations do not equal facts. Apart from the Nigerian government, the Pakistani government and the Chinese government, nobody knows the facts of this deal.

The JF-17B model, was one of the requirements made by the Nigerian government before orders were made. The B model (dual seater) should fly in december or early next year in China, production is already ongoing.

The order for the JF-17 was made late 2014 or early 2015 by my estimates. When the former CAS, Amosu visited PAC, he was pictured inspecting 3 JF-17s in advanced stages of there builds. It is possible those JF-17s are Nigerian, the 3 units which are to be delivered this year.

Nigeria has an entire fighter fleet to replace. The only equipment that isn't due for a replacement are our Surveillance planes and the F-7s.

For advanced trainers ;

Alpha jet - gone

L-39 - gone

MB-339CD - stuck in Italy, possibly gone.

The JF-17s would compliment the F-7s, the Super Mushak would replace the Air Beetle, possibly the Super-Tucano would replace the Alpha jets.

This leaves us with an advanced trainer deficit. A couple years ago i read the NAF was interested in the advanced version of the L-39, so we could in theory go for the L-39ZA as a replacement. We also have the L-15 as another potential option, we won't buy the BAE Hawk, that's out of the question, i also don't see us getting the YAK-130.... We just don't buy Russian planes for some weird reason (apart from cost).

Our most likely options for an advanced trainer are M-346, L-15, Karakorum 8, L-159 ALCA.

However all our fighter pilots have been training on the T-38 Talon as a conversion aircraft in the interim.

No airframe would be flown by a contractor, the unit that is to fly the JF-17 has already been formed, they are called "SUPER"..... Something (I can't recall, but @Jteku and Nigerdeltaboi knows their full name). They are young experienced F-7 pilots.

It does seem a little bit obsessive of you to keep worrying about another Country's procurement, and a tad bit confusing, since Nigeria is currently getting both the trainer version of the MUSCHAK (Sp?) as well as sending Nigerian Airforce Personnel to both S'Africa and the U.K and Pakistan.
The idea that because Nigeria has no Supersonic advanced trainer that the JF 17 would be flown by PAF contractors is insulting, apart from the UK and South Africa, Nigeria currently sends Pilots for training in the US, and in answer to your question, No the JF-17 will be flown by Nigerians
