Iran doesn't support Al-shaabab. Al-shaabab is a Sunni terrorist group. Infact all terrorist groups are Sunni, Boko-Haram, AQIM, AQIP, Al qeada, ISIS, muslim brotherhood.


Iran only supports Shia militias and all Shia groups around the world.

basically what happens is Iran gives weapons and ammunition to this dhow smugglers aka couriers to deliver them to the houthis,how this smugglers get paid no one knows.now if this smugglers chooses not to deliver those weapons and ammunition (iran seems not to have control over them,remember there is no honor among thieves)when ever australian,UK or US intercept those dhows with those weapons and ammunitions. they allow them to leave(dhow crews and their dhow)but confiscate their cache of weapons.this same dhows are also at risk of being hijacked by pirates who would end up selling those weapons and ammunition in somalia or those same dhow could be forced by storms to beach on the somali coastline .which some of it is still under alshabaab control e.t.c

Somalia: Al Shabab gunmen attack beach restaurant

Al Shabab fighters have attacked a beach restaurant in the capital Mogadishu with a car bomb before entering into a gunfight with security forces, according to police and the group.

"A car bomb exploded at Banadir beach restaurant at Lido beach and there is exchange of gunfire. We have no other details so far," Major Ahmed Ibrahim, a police officer, told Reuters news agency on Thursday.

The al-Qaeda-linked al Shabab group claimed responsibility for the attack.

"We attacked the Banadir beach restaurant and now our fighters are fighting inside it," Abdiasis Abu Musab, its military operation spokesman, told Reuters.

The Associated Press news agency reported that a car bomber had prematurely detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near the new Turkish embassy compound in the capital, according to a Somali police officer.

Al Shabab, has carried out a series of deadly attacks in Somalia to try to topple the Western-backed government.

In January, its militants stormed another restaurant on Lido beach, killing 17 people.

On Sunday, more than 20 people were killed when its suicide bombers detonated two car bombs at a local government headquarters in Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland region.

Bro, if you remember on of the posts from this guy that first started posting battlefield pics here on nairaland last year and had to stop after minimah ordered soldiers to stop posting such online.(I've forgotten his moniker)

I remember he wrote about a SF forces insertion deep in bh territory at that time the Nigerian army was on the backfoot. He said about 60 or so where inserted, of which they were killed after hours of fighting with no backup and ran out of ammo.

I believe the army must have learnt from that kinda mistake and did proper planning this time for it to have been a successful raid.

Syria is just a giant cluster fvck now. Although, these rebels both in Syria and Yemen are not poorly armed. They are quite heavily armed with mostly Iranian ATGMs(Yemen), and Russian, American & Chinese ATGMs ( Syria).


It still open to a debate how our armies would fare if the terrorists we fight are well armed as the rebels in Syria.

To some it's a laboratory to test various equipment, doctrine, tactics etc. Many officers sitting in Intel divisions of their armed forces are taking notes.

Unfortunately for the Syrians. Anyway, since they don't want to stop fighting each other, the Russians, Americans, Iranians, British and now Chinese would continue to use them as guinea pigs.

See how the Americans are celebrating an F-22 intercepting a legacy SU-24MK ground attack aircraft like it's some sort of massive achievement...... SMH.

I'm surprised the Russians haven't sent in MIG-29smt's from Armenia airbase, to test out in Syria.


I'm 80% certain, if the war in Syria lingers till next year, the Americans would also deploy F-35A's from the U.S air force.


Intel divisions are having a field day, the Russians deployed their most advanced surveillance equipment, while the Americans are more concerned with tracking Russian cruise missile strikes.

Chinese ATGMs, T-90 SHOTRA, American TOW, French Rafale and British brimestone..... Syria is one giant Alibino range.
