wot a funny comment.

so because d ND is not 100% water dey should den deploy heavy vehicles. a mrap for dat

just hope d army is not on a mission of ethnic cleansing.

cos dis conflict is for d Navy and maybe d army and air force special forces.
kikiki.what is heavy about the mraps or the tank??.don't be ridiculous man.if u've been to the deltas you'd be saying a different thing.

The navy would only have to patrol the fringes closer to the sea.and then the SBS,which are much, needed.NAF for bombings and air surveilance.but the rest of the action is for the army.the area needs to be well manned if we want quick results.

D; D; D; ethnic what?? You need no heavy equipment to carryout ethnic cleansing.besides there are lots of niger deltans in the military.same thing people always say when the army decides to tackle a problem once and for all.reason we are where we are now with bokoharam.mtcheeew. Funny man D; D; D;

You're just making inflammatory comments that are not based on any facts whatsoever.

An MRAP is an APC, why shouldn't the army deploy when you have miscreants all over the place bombing pipelines. Who has Nigeria's current recession helped?

The Army is well aware of the assets it needs to deploy. You're in no position to make ridiculous claims.

Thats a pretty intimidating paint scheme IMO

Makes sense to keep those MRAPs in the South - you only have a couple dozen of them so its unlikely that you will have many mechanics that are familiar/qualified to work on them, and I doubt you have vast quantities of spares for them... so you dont want them scattered around the whole of N.E Nigeria.

MRAP is not really an APC though

A Golf GTR is a high performance car... but you dont compare it to a Jaguar F-type.

That camo is our new desert camo. All the soldiers deployed in the N.E have uniforms in that blend of Camo. It blends perfectly in that environment than here.

Tracked IFVs, vehicles such as the BMD-4M are the absolute best for that terrain.

but the NE Troopers wear a variant of the desert cam.
this one above looks more like woodland with a touch of brown.

The way the NA use armored vehicles...

go to a conflict zone and park it in one T junction.

Almost all of us has come across one Armored vehicle in a junction in nigeria.

the last NIGER DELTA crises there was no known use of IED. although it is a wise move to deploy them im advance.

Niger delta militants fight in a semi-conventional warfare pattern. they do not initiate contact but grab, hold and defend ground.

airpower will come in handy here.

But I see recommend dialogue. this could end up a
long protracted conflict which Nigeria for not need now.

-120 CS/VP3 MRAPs

- 40 Reva MRAPs

- 25 Caiman MRAPs.

That's not a couple dozen, except if you completely skipped Math, Arithmetic and Economics classes.

An MRAP is an APC, because it has a V-Shaped hull and add-on armour doesn't make it anything higher than an APC.

There's no drift to get.

In 2014 the British ran tests on their Mastiff 3X3 MRAPs on Sailsbury plains to see if they could be used as APC's.

Turns out: MRAPs =/= APC

If you want to use literal terms - yes they are the same, both have armor both transport personnel.

But operationally they are not the same, hence no military uses the term interchangeably.

Sensible post, it is in the best interest of the military and the entire region to embrace dialogue.
going in with guns blazing would only result in waste of time and lives on both sides.

Niger delta topography is marshy with creeks and rain forest vegetation.
I am extremely skeptical that the scorpion tanks are of any benefit in this topography.
The scorpions can be used effectively in the middle belt against fulani terrorist herdsmen(no IEDs there) and in the North east for base defense and light reconnaissance; even in areas with IEDs.

Adminisher:

SCORPION TANKS;
Scorpion light tanks are the only large gun carrier you can deploy in the Niger Delta . They are aluminium turret and Hull. They have 70mm gun and you can put ten of them on a barge and ship them anywhere. You cannot send them to the north, IEDs will tear them to pieces.

to me i'll say the only relationship between MRAP and an APC is that they are both armored and can carry infantrymen.

Isreali merkeva has armor and can carry troops but it isn't an APC (although theres an APC Variant called namer)

an APC can be an MRAP with upgrades.

IMO APCs should have more armor over an MRAP. MRAP primarily is to defeat IED and convey troops but with lesser armor.

it is very confusing I swear, maybe patches689 can explain better.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE HELICOPTER ATTACKS NEW BOKO HARAM TERRORIST CAMP IN NORTHERN BORNO

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbhuOMzN2oA
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), during a night operation conducted yesterday, successfully destroyed a new Boko Haram Terrorist (BHT) Camp located between Malam Fatori and Kangarwa in Northern Borno. The new camp is about 4-6km away from the BHT location attacked earlier on 20 August 2016 by NAF Mi-17 helicopter within the same vicinity in a similar night operation that led to the death of about 300 insurgents. The post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) mission had revealed that surviving BHTs converged at the new location. The information was later confirmed to be true by series of follow-up Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that led to the latest strike. Recall that the general area around Malam Fatori and Kangarwa is infested with BHTs hence the need to clear the remnants of BHT in the area. The air assault is therefore expected to further degrade the capability of the insurgents while fostering the creation of the necessary enablement for own ground troops to operate.

Meanwhile, NAF Alpha Jets have helped to repel an attack by BHTs on troops of 153 Battalion who were on fighting patrol at Ala Lumshe. The troops, on Saturday 27 August 2016, had come under attack from BHTs about 4km south of Marte when the Alpha Jets were called-in to dislodge the insurgents.

NAF MI-17 helicopters are usually armed with rocket pods, 6x6 rocket pods. However the videos we've seen of NAF MI-17 attacks don't show it firing rockets, it seems they also been rigged to drop bombs.

This footage and the one before it, do not indicate rocket attacks.

Agaugust, it is vessels like these i have in mind. 8 vessels in a 50 - 58 meters size like in the photo, multi-role and modular enough to take on different tasks when required.
Here is a perfect example of what i had in mind about the NESL question i asked.
