I'v been driving a 2001 infiniti QX4 for about a year now, and I've serviced the engine four times using Mobil XHP (20W-50).

I would like to know if changing to Mobil 1 (0W-40) will not have adverse effect on the engine.

Mileage: 122000miles

Thanks.

Well from my own of observation u hv to consult ur owners manual to know d recomended oil. Meanwhile 0w-40 is a syntetic oil, which is so light for ur engine dat covers over 122000 miles, it may weaken ur seals if dey recomend e.g 5w-30 at ur oil fill cap.

The recommended oil is actually 5W-30 which is not readily available. I settled for 20W-50 after searching endlessly for the latter.

Pls see d original post. Is it SAFE to switch to 5w30? I'm currently using 20w50.

If it werent I wouldnt state the availability.
FYI 122K mileage is not high mileage for an 01 model either AND the fact that you've been using 20w50 deserves more worry than the effects of a switch which are non-existent

Thanks folks for this topic. I have 2!0 Camry manufactured in 1986 and Iam using SAE 20W50, it appears I'm supposed to be using SAE40,right?
