With Jesus himself consuming wine, you would think the Bible supports consuming alcohol. But, the truth could be otherwise, drinking could well be a sin. http://www.buzzle.com/articles/what-the-bible-says-about-drinking-alcohol.html 12 Likes |

The bible advise christians to drink wine and beer to forget their sorrows. Proverbs 31:6-7 (NIV)- Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. The bible also recommends wine in preference to water. 1 Timothy 5:23 (NIV) -Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. 12 Likes |

lanrexlan: Yeah, but proverbs gives the full authorityWe do not need the Bible to be telling us this, most of us have tried and tested ways to claim the same. Alcohol, in whatever form, has at some point of time caused us to do things differently. In the very essence of it, the Scripture does not encourage you to sin against your conscience, thus, forbidding you from doing anything that will offend yourself and your fellow beings, in particular. Consuming alcohol, on the whole, is not really condemned but letting yourself give in to drunkenness, which will lead to a loss in sobriety, is definitely looked down upon. Finally, what matters is not allowing anything to overpower the mind and the body, for that which is overpowered is enslaved. 5 Likes |

lanrexlan: Proverbs gives the authority, true or false? if to be said like that... If proverb gave the full authority then other verses didnt... Out of the 4 verses thats 3-1. Dont drink strong is more than drink. Don't taste it at all talk more of not being getting drunk. When you drink it, you are defiling your body and it does easily scatter the brain. The Holyspirit cant be in a person who drinks alchol. It is scritural and inspirationally forbidden 6 Likes |

proverb didn't even give a full authority! "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." (Proverbs 20:1). Separate yourself from drunkeness... "Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh:" (Proverbs 23:20). Other books of the Bible that condemned it... "Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." (Romans 13:13-14). "Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:10). 7 Likes |

holypower: proverb didn't even give a full authority!Which one should we believe? Proverbs 31:6-7 (NIV)- Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more. This is an advice,if someone is poor, you can give him beer to drink to forget his poverty and misery. Other books of the Bible that condemned it...Timothy partially supports it. 1 Timothy 5:23 (NIV) -Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. I am not encouraging alcoholic drinks, just saying what the bible says. The bible says you may drink wine but a minimal quantity, simple. 2 Likes |
