THOUGH it stated that its duty or programme is not to assess the performances of governors, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has tasked governors of the South-East states to pay more attention to improving the areas where people yearn for attention.

Reacting to a newspaper report of Monday credited to MASSOB Information Officer in Aba, Mr. Sonny Okereafor, who was reported to have said that the organisation heaped curses on the Abia State officials over the poor state of roads in the commercial city, the group’s National Director of Information, Mr. Uchenna Madu, told The Guardian that such assessment “should be left for God and the people, not MASSOB.”

According to him, MASSOB’s mission is “to agitate for Biafra through non-violence,” adding: “We and South-East governors have mutual respect for each other but we urge them to improve in the areas where the people are yearning for more attention.”

He stated: “The said report is embarrassing because MASSOB is not quarrelling with any South-East governor or government. When we see things go wrong, we can make our comment but do not place curses, as doing so would create wrong impressions.

THE Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Musa Katsina, on Tuesday evening paraded Emeka Osueke, alias Ogbanje, as the suspected abductor/killer of a prominent hotelier in Oguta Local Council, Emeka Esieme.

Osueke, according to the police boss, had led the kidnap and subsequent murder of Esieme in a nearby community, killing also two police officers last February, after which he was said to have escaped to Lagos.

According to Katsina, the bandit was caught after several hours of gun dwell with his men in a village hideout at Umutako, Ifakala, Mbaitoli Local Council, after his Command received information that the alleged killer had sneaked in.

He added that his anti-kidnap squad recovered one AK-47, military assault riffle, 162 AK-47 live ammunition and four mobile phones, stating that on investigation, it was uncovered Osueke had returned to abduct a prominent woman in the area, who had returned home to attend the annual August Meeting.

In a related development, Katsina said the police have rescued the kidnapped wife of Eze Basil Nwokeke, a monarch in the state, after an operation that lasted for two hours

I don't see the problem in cursing Abia state officials for the present dire economic/social situation over there. Personally, i've given up on that state until the present gov't fuc/ks off!! I'm now only interested in Enugu, Anambra, Imo and Ebonyi states.

MASSOB isn't doing their job either but they're not wrong in openly voicing their concerns. They're valid after all.
Still MASSOB isn't doing their job. Where is MASSOB in the deporation saga, during Boko Haram, and during Buhari's lynch mob attacks on igbo churches after the elections? If MASSOB is acting in the legacy of Ojukwu, these are things Ojukwu wouldn't take lying down and they should be aware of this.

MASSOB's mandate is to actualize Biafra and not criticize governments

Even at that, they have failed because I was expecting them to push through the UN for a referendum

Unfortunately, that hasn't happened and its a group with no ideals, no plans, no vision but just a bunch of noisemakers

Smh for this bunch of miscreants and Never-do-well called MASSOB. Can you Imagine that FOOL saying that they leave the Governors to the people and God to judge? Are they(MASSOB) not part of the people? Why are they scared to speak the truth and stand by it? Arrant Nonsense. They just came up with this damage control so that the Ekwensu in Abia state will continue to allow them intimidate, extort and enslave the same people they claim to be fighting for. Anu ofia!

Massob is your ministry of foreign affairs? Your region is wasting away and massob can't speak out because of the few kobos they receive from their governors.

Btw why would someone scared of returning to his house, is the SE that bad?

MASSOB should stop talking and act! Where were they during the height of the Boko Haram crisis? Where were they when Fashola deported over 80 of your people from Lagos? Yet you come out and claim that you are fighting for the rights of Igbos.

^^^I'm giving Elechi a pass on this one; he's trying given what he has to work with! Nigeria has made it so Ebonyi receives the lowest revenue allocation in the federation, but this hasn't prevented him major infrastructure provision in his state; also, his administration generates the highest IGR in the entire South East! So cut him some slack abeg!

Re: Massobs Urges South-East Governors To Improve States by Pukkah: 11:31am On Aug 11, 2013
The truth is always bitter but South Easterners need to be harder on their governors, be less indulgent of non-performance and focus less on 'FG/Jonathan'.

What's happening in Abia? Zero.

What's happening in Ebonyi?

They've not given Okorocha in Imo any chance.

Sullivan Chime in Enugu has been sick?

In your heart of hearts, would you say Peter Obi of Anambra is a performer?

So what's happening in the South East?

Even the South Southerners, who are even more heterogenous and the residents of Mr President's base, seem to be more cohesive.

Again, the truth is bitter but it's the only thing that can set you free.

MASSOB also needs to make up its mind. Does it want a united Nigeria or a broken Nigeria? Focus is essential please.

Why should SE Govenors worry about development, when they can secure their elections with tribalist sentiments?

^^^Compare what Elechi is building as a secretariat to the two legacy projects buildings (without lifts in this 21st century! angry) that Orji is putting up in Umuahia!

If you listened to his speech at the beginning of the video, you'd know the man has a vision for his state and is planning for future growth and expansion.

Massob is a bunch of tout. What is there agenda. From been a freedom fighter to what do i call it now. A pseudo political party.

I am really ashamed to be Nigerian when I hear tribalist touts making excuses for bad leadership.

Today we know that power generation has fallen to record lows, poverty has increased, and some fools are STILL making excuses for why it is everyone's fault EXCEPT the commander in chief and his worthless Governors.

We will never improve. Of this I am sure. We might as well give up.

2015 requires real change in the east. Apga has to take the lead. Internationalist within and outside Nigeria will be required to take the mantle of leadership. The shopping for the great Leaders amongst Ndiigbo has just began.

Okonjo is at the central level right now but whenever she has finished. Abia or Delta can do with a governor with her exposure and connection. Maybe 2019, don't know, but they might have to beg and persuade that woman becos i suspect she might not be interested in Politics.

Soludo should have Anambra Ticket with maybe Obi's policy administrator for his Vice.

Enugu under Chime and PDP has not done bad at all. That State can remain with PDP or Join Apga, either way Enugu from 2015 onwards should be a major aviation hub in the southeast, all embassies should have a consulate there.

Ebonyi need to search internationally or domestically for their experienced internationalist(banker or economist) with connection and vision.

Imo will need Okorocha to return to his Apga roots or be repaced by an internationalist with vision and connection to harness the enormous potential of that oil state and likewise Anambra will require Ngige to return to Apga.

A Dora Akunyili will be brought to play within an executive capacity(maybe senator or reps), to deal with corrupt Official, u know that woman don't take shiit.

Apga Kai ga so.

All hail TRIBALISM.

If the SS Christian president is a massive failure, let's celebrate him because he shares our religion and maybe our tribe.

If the Governor has been stealing and is refusing to even build a simple bridge that we have been demanding for 30 YEARS, let's celebrate him because mediocrity is all we know.

If our local government is a depressing embarrassment, lets rejoice because our LGA has the same culture as us.

Then let's complain about our miserable lives under these leaders. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Sullivan Chime and (to a lesser extent) Peter Obi appear to be the only functional governors in the SE at the moment. Okorocha talks too much and is distracted by politics, the Ebonyi governor hardly stays in his state, while the other state... Well they don't even seem to have a governor.

Sad.
