"As you are aware, the federal government has a vision to put the Nigerian economy among the top 20 economies in the world by the year 2020 so that our financial sector will be at par with that of developed economies.

"So, you can only have the best economy if you have highly trained manpower and this intervention fund is aimed at developing highly skilled manpower in the university to help drive the nation's economy to a desired level," he said.

Sanusi, who spoke through the Deputy Director, Projects, Planning and Implementation Division, Procurement and Support Services Department of the CBN, Mr. Kabiru Nuhu Koko, stated that the intervention fund would be chanelled towards improving facilities in the university.

He emphasised that the funds would mainly be targeted towards certain projects that had to do with the immediate needs of the university.

If i say universities in the north are more equipped than those in the south, some people will say it's a lie.

I just hope all these monies being donated to Northern institutions by Sanusi don't find their way into Boko Haram's account cos last time he donated something, intensity of bombings increased. Just my honest observation.

Chemist, let's be happy he did not donate it to a mosque. I hope you know how many Igbo people attend the said university in Sokoto. Igbo dominate the medicine and nursing faculty in Sokoto. It is a learning institution he donated it to. Would you have had problem with it if it was donated to UNN? The last time I checked, Usman Dan Fodio University in still in Nigeria.

Let's not get tribal about this. Is it right for our CBN governor to dole out goverment cash any how he likes That is the question. He runs to the minting company, orders more 1000 naira bills anytime he wants to impress a particular group? You've got agree that there something wrong with that picture. Even if he cites some narrow law that authorize him to do so, you've got to agree that something has to give.
He's acting like a Saudi Arabian prince dolling out cash to beggers when he should be directing the economic well being of the country as the chief economist. Sad.

1 billion naira can make a lot of difference to several Federal Universities in Nigeria. Why does he have to donate 10 bleeping billion to one institution among his people alone? Tribalism really is a terrible hindrance to our progress in this country. That's why there is a government refinery in Kaduna where there's no oil anywhere.

The more you look, the less you see.

There is a project plan already on table for a trans-border rail system connecting from Northern Nigeria to Republic of Niger. Sokoto is a Sultanate and its Emirates extend beyond the Nigerian border.

Niger Republic get oil supply from Kaduna refinery already. They are already in the plan to get electric supply from PHCN grid.

The master plan to erect a regional government has started while you doofus were busy claiming ownership of Lagos.

Whats your plan for a regional SE? I suggest you all join hands with Tinubu to help you situate a working government in East. Go and read 8 point programme of APC. West and North are determined to devolve power from center. In parallel to that a Yoruba group has issued an "imminent danger" forecast to Ban ki Moon. 2015 will not be like any political evemt previously witnessed in this country. Be warned!!

Besides why did sanusi give 10b to one university when all the federal universities badly need funding and infrastrutures?
Mr president should question this rationel and stop all that money from going out to one institution.
All fed unis badly need funding and sanusi has no right to be giving to one section,he is not the CBN governor of the north but the whole Nigeria.

This is what is called white collar fraud/crime.

The University is a trustee of some sort over a philantrophy or research or community programme. The beneficiaries of the trust/research/social programme are principals and parties in the money transfer. Because trusts and philanteophy are unregulated they are not obligated to report this transaction into any accounting standards. Let us assume for a minute that by some chance the University is asked to account for the money at a future date. It could rightly claim immunity under the trustee provisions or it could invoke private undertakings interest and since it is tax exempt then it cannot be forced to report the gift as an income.

Thank you sir. I'm surprised no one actually commented on the overt and blatant money laundering scheme in front of them.

Anybody who truly believed that the sum of 10 billion Naira was actually 'Donated' to the University must be prevented from contaminating the national gene pool
