Jazakallahu khayran brother. There is a very nice book on this by Muhammad Salih Al - Munajjid : 33 ways of developing khushu' in salaah. It can be downloaded from kalamullah.com.

In addition to the above listed ways, one that has seriously worked for me is to constantly use new memorized verses/sura in my solat.. itz magical, anyone can try it & confirm its efficacy...

Salam Aleikum Waramatullahi Wabarakatuh to all Muslim Brothers and Sisters, i found this on one of Islamic facebook
page and i think it`ll be useful.

1. Before standing up for Prayer, try to deal with all the minor urgent matters which demand your attention. If you are pressed by hunger, eat first; if you are pressed to attend to the call of nature,relieve yourself; if you are the parent of an infant, feed him or her, or keep him or her busy.

2. Perform your wudu’ (ablution) well, paying...due care and attention.

3. Approach the Prayer with zest and passion as if it is the last prayer in your life before dying. Actually the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us that we could do nothing in this world that could ever surpass Prayer in merit and excellence.

4. Visualize that in your Prayer you are going to have a special audience with Allah, Lord of the worlds, and that you are enjoying a direct communion with Him—which, in fact, is true.

5. Think of the Prayer you are performing as if it were the last Prayer of your life. In fact, it could very well be the last one, since no one is given a guarantee that he would live to perform another Prayer.

6. Picture the scene of the Last Day when people will be lined up into two groups, one destined for Heaven, and another for Hell, and ask yourself where you would be placed.

7. Focus your mind on what you are reading in your Prayer and recite simple surah that you understand it's meaning and ponder on the meaning whiles u recite.

8. If, in spite of your best efforts, your mind is still wandering, seek refuge in Allah and bring your mind back to Prayer.

9. Pray to Allah and beg Him to grant you true the joy of concentrating in your Prayer and protection against the wanderings of your mind.

10. Place your eyesight to the one spot where you will be making your sujud while you recite and avoid taking your eyes from that spot.

May Allah protect us from the tricks of shaitan during prayers and forgive us our mistakes.

The daily Prayer in islam (Salat or Solat ) is worship and glorifying the creator and the \Lord of the universe- ALLAH. You may not be beseeching or begging for anything although making requests to Allah is also a form of warship.

I once heard about a survey that was carried out in a Masjid.

A salat was just concluded and before people could hurriedly leave the masjid, a questioniare was administered on everyone that was about to exit the Masjid at the door.

The question was " Which Surahs did the Imam recite in the First and Second raka'ahs?

Though the Imam ,for the purpose of this survey, actually recited the commonly known short surahs in the last Juzu'.

Despite this, it is bilwildering that an amazingly negligible percentage could remember talkless or pondering on the surahs recited 5 mins after the salat.

This happens a lot- we are in salat yet our mind in miles away in the wilderness of thoughts mostly about this ephemeral Dunya.

Conduct this test on yourself and let's get ourseves evaluated before we are questioned.

The OP has admonished us.
We all have to be keenly watchful.

At-times I used to wonder whether the time we spent surfing NL is worth it!
Had we dedicate such to memorizing the Quran or learning the Deen,we would be light-years better.

But with this Islam for Muslims section, perhaps this might justify the whole essence. Perhaps,just perhaps, it might!

Salat is something amazing in Islam and it is the way Muslims 'converse' with "Allah". Muslims make 'salat' every day, five times a day. Salat is a form of worship in the most distinguished and honorable form.
Salat is the second most important act of worship in Islam, after the shahadah (declaration of faith) and is often referred to as the second pillar of Islam.
Salat is obligatory worship and must be
performed five times a day at prescribed times.
These five times are dawn (Fajr), immediately after
noon (Dhuhr), mid-afternoon ('Asr), sunset
(Maghrib), and early night (Isha').

Ritual cleanliness and ablution are required
before salat, as are clean clothes and location, and the removal of shoes. One may pray individually or communally, at home, outside, virtually any clean place, as well as in a mosque, though the latter is preferred.
Special is the Friday noon prayer, called Jum'ah. It, too, is obligatory and is to be done in a mosque, in congregation.
It is accompanied by a sermon (Khutbah), and it replaces the normal Dhuhr salat.


Quran backings about Salat:

Qur’an 11:114—And keep up prayer in the two parts of the day and in the first hours of the night; surely good deeds take away evil deeds; this is a reminder to the mindful.

Qur’an 17:78-79—Establish regular prayers—at the sun’s decline till the darkness of the night, and the morning prayer and reading: for the prayer and reading in the morning carry their testimony. And pray in the small watches of the morning: (it would be) an additional prayer (or spiritual profit) for thee: soon will thy Lord raise thee to a Station of Praise and Glory!

all dese are wen u're praying alone, what of if u're praying behind an imam and u dont know d surah he is reciting, what cn u do 2 remain concentrated.
