Omotola Jalade started her career as a model and in 1995 she made her screen debut in a movie at a tender age of 17 with a lead role in Venom of Justice.

Her performance that year as the lead character in the monstrously popular Mortal heritage which got her the awards for the best actress in an English speaking role and also best actress overall at the prestigious Thema Awards 1996/97. Omotola was the youngest actress to have won such awards at the age of 18.
