Nigerians in Canada who visited the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa Canada 23 August were disappointed when they got there to find to their chagrin the embassy was shut.
A notice at the gate said the embassy officials have gone on"consular duties" and will not be opened until 27 August.
The Nigerians, most of them students, had been given the appointment to come to the embassy to get their passports renewed.
One Nigerian said he spent close to$1,000 to get to Ottawa from Calgary.
One said he was going to waste$200 for coming to the embassy and not being able to fulfil his mission.
A young Nigerian lady studying in Canada, expressed the greatest bitterness.
She had travelled overnight to renew her passport. The journey cost her $300.
She will have to spend another$300, to return to her station and contemplating making a return journey, she vowed to burn her Nigerian passport, whenever she becomes a Canadian citizen.
"They don't treat you like human, they treat you like animals", the lady said.

Ojo maduakwe is a monumental fool, this what happens when a foolish government gives out ambassadorial appiontment in salient countries to political buddies, not trained diplomats. Rubbish!

When we say Jonathan is a big old baboon you say we are racist. They act stupid at home and away. He doesn't know what he is doing. Even a monkey would have handled or given this position to a credible candidates, and calls himself a professor I wonder how he got that phd. Even during abachas regime people still respected us, if you can't bring a change leave, let people who can do it come in.

Goodluck Jonathan appointed Ojo Maduekwe, a known political prostitute and non-starter, to this sensitive position despite calls from sane Nigerians he should be shunned.

Therefore, Goodluck Jonathan bears responsibility for this nonsense that's taking place at the Nigerian High Commission in Canada.
