New PDP Faction Has More Than 14 Governors

Indications have emerged that the fractionalization of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with the emergence of a new faction led by formerVice President Atiku Abubakar and seven governors of the party might just be the beginning of more intrigues to come as a source within the party has said that “the next few days will introduce to the polity foundation-moving actions that may see the end of PDP as we presently know it“.

The source who was among the fellows that walked out of the PDP convention revealed further that up to fourteen governors have already expressed interest in crossing the aisle to join them.

He explained that the reason only seven (7) governors walked out today was because the seven were the coordinators of the group. He claimed in his words that“President Jonathan is aware of the number of Governors who are with us“.

It was made clear that should the President refuse to toe the line of dialogue– that the group of governors and other stakeholder will likely collapse the PDP into another party – likely the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) or Voice of the People (VOP).

The announcement of the formation of a new faction came earlier today at a press briefing in Abuja where Abubakar Kawu Baraje, a former acting National Chairman of the PDP was announced as the leader of the new faction of the party. The press briefing was attended by at least seven governors including those of Kano, Sokoto, Rivers, Jigawa, Kwara, Adamawa, and Niger. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was also at the press briefing.

A former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the PDP, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, was announced as the National Secretary of the new PDP faction.

The source explained also that the group opted to stage a walkout today during the national convention into order to hit the Jonathan-lead PDP ‘hard’ and ‘publicly’.

The good lord that has seen nigerians groan under this politicians since 1999 has finally risen against them. A typical case of "strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter". Jonathans PDP, i have no pity for you, neither is Atikus faction an option. They are just like two parts of a sliced rotten bread. No difference. Buharis APC nko? This ones has been out of power and access to free govt fund for too long and are even more dangerous and worse than PDP.

Dialogue? They should come, crawling on their fat bellies, if they want dialogues. The Convention went on smoothly without these irresponsible betrayers.

I must inform everyone that this is a PDP ambush strategy for people that read polítics on a face level. It is all strategizing I must tell u all......d new group to be formed would be a sucker off PDP outgrown fruits just to divert people and work on populace sentiments.
They are One and same people.
There should be a formidable labour party in this countrry like what obtains in israel.

Now we are seeing the true faces of PDM. Earlier today we heard that PDM salutes the courage and bravery of the renegade governors. Obviously they are moving to join PDM and PDM will hold the aces for 2015. As it stands, we are heading for a run-off in 2015 as none of the three parties will get the needed majority. Whoever PDM aligns with will win the presidency in the run-off. I am sure Jona will be seriously worried.

The person they are trying to fight is not even in the ring yet and they have almost exhausted their firepower. What more can they do? Try and impeach GEJ? Concede power to the Southwest in 2015? Assassinate the President?

The shortest cut to the North having the presidency is by allowing GEJ have a second term. For all their political sophistication, these lackeys do not seem to understand this simple arithmetic. They just misfired again, now they would have to beg to have the presidency in 2019.

2015 the smile will be wiped off faces, wen GEJ wins.

To make a fair analysis, this move stands more to benefit Jonathan.
First, it removes all the impediments to becoming the PDP presidential candidate.
Secondly, it splits the number of strong parties to three. A single opposition is always stronger than multiple opposition.
Thirdly, if both APC and this new group poresent 2 northeneres(Atiku & Buhari), Jonathan simply costs to victory.

Its really a win for Jonathan except this group metamorphorses and merges with APC. That can then pose a slight threat.
