Hi,
This is pacesetter. I am out to help people. please i want you to suggest a way we can solve this unemployment problem in Nigeria. We are intelligent people and of course who knows if your suggestion will be all that we need to remove this problem and have a better job standard in nigeria.
Also, you should suggest a way you think the government can help us solve the problems. We have got to live, to survive and to help our parents. So suggest and let us move on.

Hi pacesetter
I appreciate your effort at putting an end to unemployment in your life and others'. But I want to know if you are not aware of a thread started sometime ago by Wilz. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-132276.0.html
He proposed that we (Nigerian graduates) should get together and use the 'together' force in establishing a company. A lot of people bought into that idea and we got responses from different parts of the country. As at this moment, we're in the process of registering the company, and would be having a meeting with the representatives from different parts of the country soon (July 5). So, I think you may have missed this opportunity (but I think you may still become a part of the team if the house sees your commitment).
Cheers

Politician that steals money must must be sentenced to life in prison.
And governors that scam their citizen, just like the governor from Imo did must be punished accordingly.

This is how to stop the unemployment

1 sell your BB that you bought for over N35K just to show off that you belong

2 Go to Otiba get a show glass with N10K,buy phone accessories, flash drives, memory cards worth N15K and put them in the show glass, you will discover that you are making a daily profit of N3K-N5K.

3 Stop doubting and criticising online businesses and MLM businesses, Only the risk takers become Rich

4 Discover the natural talents you have and commercialise it.

5 Ask that your father or uncle that has worked for over 20yrs why hasn't he started a personal business ,so that he can become an employer of labour so that he can leave his present J.O.B. and create space for fresh graduates,

6 Be self-employment oriented

Nigeria government has the capacity to create millions of jobs in Nigeria. Let us look at IT for instance; millions of jobs can be created by the government just by creating infrastructures that would automate some government businesses/activities like;

A common database for the driver and vehicle licensing authority, health, financial, national identity card project, credit referencing, etc
Unify the whole process of individual identification with police, banks, health, immigration, social service, road transport, etc
Indexing of all parastatals, ministries, local council data

These multimillion dollar IT projects will not only create IT jobs but also improve the operations of government ministries, parastatals, etc. These projects can also improved management information system in the country and also directly impact the lives of ordinary man on the street.

There are some IT fields like software testing and the alternatives to project management like Scrum that seems not explored yet in Nigeria. Scrum is one aspect of IT that Nigerians have not explore. There is a link below for more information on Agile Scrum METHODOLOGY

We need to redefine education. What is the use of more than twenty six years that give you a certificate with no sellable skill. All of us want salary job where we will put on tie and suit. But the world don't work like that again. Our graduate should learn to retrain themselves and retool themselves and reskill themselves with marketable skill. i am a graduate of one of the best universities of technology in Nigeria, it wasn't easy after NYSC, i had a friend introduce me to a business opportunity, at first i ignored it saying, i cant do this. after a while i had a rethink of the opportunity, i attended the presentation and wow, this is all i wanted. i saw that i had nothing to loose if i took the chance of securing my future. i took it, got involved and started making money in dollars after a few months.
the problem with most of our graduates is that they are lazy, they can not own up their life, they are waiting for connection and other help sources to get a job. every man created by God has a talent in him to make money with, the thing is, discover it and make your money.

STOP WASTING YOUR TIME WAITING FOR A JOB THAT IS TO PAY YOU A CHANGE AFTER EXHAUSTING YOU FOR THE MONTH.

Honestly seeing this gladdens my heart because it shows there are people who truly worry about the Nigerian youth situation of joblessness. I really think the first approach to this issue would be youths going into institution not as intended jobseekers but enterprenuers. We too many and honestly there are very few jobs out there; if only we become business minded youths, joblessness would still be that virus that has come to stay.

“studying in the University with a mindset of becoming an entrepreneur on its own is commendable but will not solve the herculean unemployment problem in Nigeria as there are no enabling environments that could help grow small scale businesses. The government failed the people, the socio economical structures put in place have hitherto been shambolic, and even the people have failed themselves by not calling the thieving politicians to be accountable to them. “– Dele Oluwole

Unemployment is a global challenge but what really matters is the approach used to manage it. I believe that the people concerned in Nigeria are not competent in managing unemployment. Therefore, my suggestions go thus:

1. Our graduates should get in addition to their higher education, skills which will make them job creators and not necessarily job seekers.

2. The government should encourage graduates to go into agriculture.

3. We should encourage local production of goods and services. Nigeria is now becoming a country of buy and sell. If you go on our streets, all you see is boutiques (clothes and shoes).

4. The government should be sincere in fighting importation of all sorts to Nigeria.

5. Those that are gainfully employed should work with sincerity and fear of God. Many people embezzle their company money or commit one crime or the other and when they are laid off, they start complaining of unemployment.

Nigeria is our country and no one single person will make this nation a better place unless our collective effort.
Re: How Do We Solve This Massive Unemployment Problem? by munagi: 11:02am On Dec 16, 2011
I believe other reasons for unemployment is greediness on the part of the job seekers. Many job seekers are so greedy that they would want to earn a millions even without any job experience.

Also, people always compare themselves with others. Contentment should be the watchword. People should be satisfied and work hard for what they want and stop comparing themselves with others.

The get-rich-quick syndrome plays a role too in unemployment. People now crave for quick money and ignore hard work.

Hi,the topic very interesting and will like to contribute. In Nigeria today we are blessed and their are massive employment opportunities but many have failed to see it. I believe era of waiting for companies to advertise openings is over,I be willing to give free seminar on job generation to first twenty applicants to respond to this offer, the venue will depend on location of responds or Asaba in Delta state, at the end will expect attendees to testify via this medium. Responses should be sent to Jobniche@gmail.com, again minimum qualification required to attend is OND, and must be fit. thanks, fidelis

This is a fresh idea that just crossed my mind and I really want to share it.
If you know you can work as a good marketer for your own business, why not set up a bulk sms website and make money into your pocket. You will set it up for probably 15k max, prepare a proposal and market your business yourself. Please note: I don't build such websites, so I am not selling myself here.
In addition, you can start your own blog and monetize it. A lot of my friends are making money from Google Adsense. My own personal blog made €5.13 with Google Adsense on 7-01-12, and you can make more than this because I am a lazy blogger.
Just do something or anything, you can learn how to do a lot of things like sowing or other skills. Don't be shocked to here that some salons average 15k on weekends, not to talk of those who sow clothes on regularly.
The choice is your to make.
