Saraki, Baraje Are Not Entitled To Guards – Police by Nobody: 9:07pm On Sep 09, 2013
Federal Capital Territory Police Commissioner Femi Ogunbayode says Senator Bukola Saraki and factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abubakar Baraje are not entitled to police escorts.

Police guards were suddenly withdrawn from the two key figures of the ‘New PDP’ on Saturday, on the same day the police sealed the faction’s headquarters in Abuja.

In a telephone interview with Daily Trust yesterday, Ogunbayode said “there are categories of public servants that are entitled to have police escort based on the office they occupy” and that Saraki and Baraje were not among such people.

Ogunbayode said Saraki should still enjoy some level of security in Kwara State where he is a former governor, but his current position does not entitle him to a police detail.

He said also police escort can be attached to any Nigerian after an appraisal of perceived threat to that person by the police.

The commissioner said it was just coincidence that the police escorts attached to Sakari and Baraje were removed at this time when the PDP is in crisis.

I am not in support of attaching policemen to these folks but the coincidence is unsettling. The problem with our leaders is intolerance of other people's opinions and association. As it is in politics, so it is in religion.

Those who have power today should tread softly and use it carefully because power is transient.

By the way, when will others who still have policemen attached to them like Saraki and Baraje have their own withdrawn? Or does the withdrawal only affect those that are perceived to be against Jonathan's ambition to continue in office?

Let him just be straight-forward for once. What silly excuse?! So Saraki is not entitled to police escort, but other national assembly members are, right? Baraje is not entitled to police escort, but mallam Bamanga "Pot belly" Tukur,is entitled to,right?

This is just pure hypocrisy and political persecution!

And I guess Tukur and his NEC members loyal to GEJ fall into the category of "public officials" deserving police escorts. Yeye..

what the police commissioner is saying is that you cannot come to my birthday party, take my food & drinks, then rain abuses on me & expect me to give u a ride home in my car. The least i can do in such a situation is to restrain myself from assaulting you. So if Saraki & co want to fight GEJ they should expect no favors from him. Chekina.

Wrong analysis, faulty analogy.

The President does you no favour when he provides security, roads, or health facilities to you - whether or not you support him. Political persecution is bad. Favouritism or nepotism is also bad.

If you didn't know that, know it from today.

This is one of the reasons the country is struggling and lagging behind. People in power use their office to dispense favours or punish opponents. It's very bad.

Lie #1: This is just coincidence.
Lie #2: Saraki is not in any danger. In fact, since starting a faction to unseat a sitting president he has become safer. (See Below)

He said also police escort can be attached to any Nigerian after an appraisal of perceived threat to that person by the police.

So Saraki and Baraje were under threat LAST week, but starting THIS week their need for protection has lessened? Lucky for them! I wonder what brought about this positive development. grin

Sincere9gerian, you don't honestly believe this "poo", so why should I?

Stop talking nonsense my friend. You are not even questioning the fact that Saraki was going around with 7 policemen. How many policemen does Nigeria have? He is not entitled to police escort, period. If he had any, it was simply goodwill from the police and it was even ridiculous. If one senator has 7 policemen, the 109 senators will have 7 X 109 = 763 policemen. So how many will remain for the rest of Nigeria. Please stop supporting bad thing. He should go and hire man o' war and pay for his own security like every other Nigerian.

in other word, GEJ is also a big boy and can take care of himself from the loot, #1billion annual food budget and abundance of known and unknown allowances. We can also crave for the withdrawal of his security and hire them himself.

Either you take away EVERY Senator's police escort, or you leave the situation as it is.

You don't selectively take away police escorts based on politics. That is unethical and cowardly.

GEJ has been abusing the police too much. Look what happened in Rivers House Assembly. Must Saraki and Barage be bloodied to settle a political battle? How uncivilized must we be? This is jungle politics.

Maybe the next President will take the police out of your state because your ethnic group didn't vote for him, or maybe if your Governor is beefing. The precedent has been set.

Orji Uzor Kalu's house was sealed because he refused to pay taxes. An unpardonable offense in Lagos! grin
Not because he criticised Fashola. Fasola doesn't operate that way.

Homesteady, wasn't it Fashola himself that unsealed Kalu's house the day it hit the press? Didn't the same Fashola use his executive power to give Kalu extra time to pay his tax? Don't you get THREE notices from the LASG, over the course of several months, informing you that you have failed to pay taxes and that your house will be sealed if you don't pay by a set date? Fashola loves his tax too much o! I don't think he cares about Kalu's politics. grin

Stop being mischievous. We can see right through you. wink

You didn't bother to address the issues I raised before you foolishly and hastily jumped to a conclusion.

If you were careful enough to read, or intelligent enough to comprehend, you would have seen where I supported the withdrawal of the policemen but cautioned against political victimization.

Once again, and in response to another comment, I say the government does you no favour by providing security. Yes or no?

Also, I ask, when will the police escorts of others like Saraki be rightfully withdrawn? Or this is 'simply goodwill' (your silly words) from the Police?

The more some of you try to attack the opposition because you want to defend Jonathan, the more you succeed in revealing and bringing attention to his weaknesses.

You have mentioned Atiku's loot here. I ask, who is supposed to do something about the loot? Is it not Jonathan? What has he done about fighting corruption?

Just note that the more you unabashedly refer to opposition politicians as thieves, or painfully remind us about the looters, the more you reinforce the fact that Jonathan is not doing anything about corruption or the thieves.

It shall be well with your household.....

That has always been my grouse with the GEJ b.u.tt lickers

When it suits their maniacal fancy, they will label opposition leaders as thieves, looters,Boko Haram's sponsors and all the likes while their father the president has not been able to do anything about the people being called thieves by just a bunch of nonentities behind a laptop

Yet we know who it is that is romancing confirmed and indicted rogues just to ensure he gets a 2nd term by hook or crook

When the likes of OGD,Akala etc are still being reckoned with by the president despite the heavy chain of corruption around their necks like Gold medals then it should suffice one to serious check the head of those who currently run our nations and their lackeys....

Am not sure the president is behind this act but definitely some pdp elders who have upper hand in d country as well,, it might be a propangada by the saraki and baraje themselves to gain your sympathy. 2015 wont be easy politically cos pdp might die and apc will definitely crumble as well cos there can never be an agreement between those two major parties that amalgamated(acn and cpc)
