President Goodluck Jonathan By SaharaReporters, New York President Jonathan said early on Monday morning that there will be no democracy in Nigeria without the Peoples Democratic Party. Mr. Jonathan, who spoke at the party's post convention dinner held at the Presidential villa, which ended in the early hours of Monday, said that peace would soon return to the troubled party. While acknowledging the grievances of the seven governors, who said they have formed "New PDP", the President added that there must be disagreement among family members. The rebel governors includes Aliyu Wamakko(Sokoto), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Aliyu Babangida(Niger), Abdulfatai Ahmed(Kwara ) Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) and Rabiu Kwankwanso (Kano). All of them were absent at the dinner. But Jonathan said he was sure that the efforts of the elders of the party would restore peace. He said, "Even those who said they were leaving did not say they were leaving the party, but merely said they were going to form New PDP. They still added the PDP to to because they know without PDP,mothers is no democracy in Nigeria and that they cannot achieve anything." Obasanjo, IBB, Atiku, Mark, Tambuwal And Seven Governors Shun Jonathan / Tukur’s Faction Dinner Former president Olusegun Obasanjo, and General Ibrahim Babangida whose diplomatic shuttling failed to reconcile the two warring factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shunned the dinner organized for newly elected executives of the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur led PDP. Others who were conspicuously absent were former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President, David Mark, Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and governors of Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kwara, Rivers, and Niger states. Chairman of PDP Governors Forum and Governor Godswill Akpabio, in his speech said, “Out of 23 PDP governors all the 17 are here at the dinner, there was no faction in our party, what we are experiencing is a storms inside a teacup. We will soon overcome it and reconcile ourselves. Akpabio also stated that anybody who wants leave to any party is free to make his or her choice. "Any of our members who wishes to leave can do it now. But, they should remember that, anybody who wants authority must respect others in authority," he stated. Speaking further, Akpabio boasted: "Any gang up, any scheme up, any writes up or noise, misleading our people cannot win, cannot change our stand or loyalty to Mr. President and the party leadership. It will not do anything or affect our respect to Mr. President.” http://mobile.saharareporters.com/news-page/without-pdp-there-will-be-no-democracy-nigeria-says-president-jonathan-factional-party-exe |

Without PDP, there would be no Demo-Crazy in Nigeria. A Democracy without Democrats but only Kleptocrats and Lootocrats. "The reason why our democracy has lived so far is not the success or size of the ruling party but the steadfastness and the struggle of the good people of Nigeria. If Nigeria had been left with the PDP, it would have been a thing of the past." 1 Like |

President Jonathan is not a professional politician and neither is he a natural born leader; his odd utterances is a revelation of his incompetence in mantle of leadership. It is hard to explain how he rose through the ranks from deputy governor, to governor, then vice president and now president. In the den of top-class, high-heat Yoruba politics GEJ, if he was Yoruba, would not have won an LG councillor seat, much more be a deputy governor over a Yoruba State. Even our women politicians at LG level are much better administrators than GEJ in Presidency. It is repulsive hearing the President give credit to his party for the democratic process and victories in Nigeria. If he was Yoruba his political instinct would have instructed him to thank "the people" and acknowledge their sacrifice and fortitude to make democracy work. The People are wary of resting hope on a "goodluck", they want competent leadership. |

Correction mr president. With PDP there has never been democracy in nigeria for the 15 years of the 4th republic. The death of your party will be the start of a long and painfull rehabilitation of nigeria. |
