may be it is because it is not in English |
Re: Nigerian Made Android Apps for Android Phones by nollyj: 6:02pm On Sep 16, 2013 |
Javanian: may be it is because it is not in English I think the store listing header information is in Swedish but the application name and description is in English. I have checked with my phone and laptop. I don't think it is much of a reason because there were still downloads from UK and USA. |

Reason: more than 70% Android users in Nigeria uses VPN applications. So location will reflect the server they are connected to. Nice apps! My app is 90% done for the challenge. |

Hello all.... Any help on how to install my phone(android, tecno n3) drivers on Windows 8?? I have the android ADT installed and the emulator is dog slow. I have also download the drivers, but it's in a rar file, after extracting it I can't seem to understand how to continue with the installation as I was hoping to see a .exe file. Can anyone help @OP, your apps are nice. Keep the good work. Thanks...... |

Am also an Android app developer,i started like 3 months ago,i have my two apps on MTN App Play too (LIRS Tax Calculator,Naija CookBook and Muslim Names With Meaning). I have some questions for you about MTN app store 1. I have not used MTN App store before but I am planning to use it for my current app. The problem I have seen on their app store is that there is no download count for each app for users to see just only review. 2. Do your app get many downloads from their store? 3. Is their apps basically download by Nigerians and Africans? 4. Do major percentage of Nigerians pay for apps in their store. I look forward for your reply and I hope that this information will help others planning to launch their apps |

Re: Nigerian Made Android Apps for Android Phones by Javanian: 1:12pm On Sep 19, 2013 |
nollyj: True.
PlayStore is a better option
MTN users ONLY!
Do Nigerians ever pay for apps MTN app store is a total waste of time...Use Google PlayStore for all your apps... |
Re: Nigerian Made Android Apps for Android Phones by nollyj: 1:20pm On Sep 19, 2013 |
Javanian: This is very insightful. Thanks for breaking it down in a perfect way. |
Re: Nigerian Made Android Apps for Android Phones by skoten(m): 1:28pm On Sep 19, 2013 |
@nollyj Javanian has answered all your questions, you get download counts for your application via user control panel, few Nigerians pay for commercial app,i applied for the MTN Store just for the fun of uploading my apps for people to download then probably the 'MTN App Challenge',the best place to upload your android is Google PlayStore. People tends to download free apps then you to be MTN user because it will automatically download/install MTN Store App to your device. |

Hope I'm not digressing from the main topic, but I guess I could get help here, please the Android Virtual Device takes eternity to load, any solutions to this? and nollyj, do you use the Android Virtual Device, or you test on a physical device straightaway? |

If it's still slow reduce the "target" to a lower android version instead of Jellybean V.17. you can create 2 Vitual Devices with different targets to try both and see the speed. Keep on trying things until it get better. |

GideonG: The only option in the target drop down box is Android 4.2.2 - API Level 17.... no other option |

AVD is always slow and the system I am using is not as fast as I would have wish. So I usually test with my android device and occasionally test with AVD. Try what GideonG has recommended. |

Info to everyone that's planning on applying for MTN NextApp Challenge According to what i there reps said at the Info Session at CCHub, your app should only be found on the nextapps.mtnonline.com at least for the period of the competition. You app shouldn't be on Google's Play store or any other store. |

Hy guys, the fact that its bad new doesn't make it wrong, at least you a signing up with d terms and condition by participating in d competition. Ok, let me ask dis question; For paid apps, how is d percentage sharing between MTN and d developer. Anybody? |
Re: Nigerian Made Android Apps for Android Phones by Viktour(m): 11:54am On Sep 21, 2013 |
DharkPoet:the available AVD versions are tied to the system images that you have installed via the SDK manager. For example, you can see ARM EABI v7aSystem Image, Intel x86 Atom System Image, and MIPS System Image under Android 4.2 (API17) in the SDK manager. So i think you should download the images for other versions. |
