What if it wasn't from molestation? (Mutual agreement between the two parties involved)
I also noticed that it is gradual increasing in our villages, and semi towns... Some of these girls came from a discipline home and well trained (societal ethics and morals).
Can we now say, it is more of peer pressure(external influence) or intrinsic factors?

No one is to be blamed. . .JUST A NATURAL OCCURRENCE. NOT A CRIME!
Simple.

Molestation is a different case here.. What we are trying to discuss is "intentional act".

Do you think government policy can't influence teen pregnancy?

The rapist is to blame.

As to the original question, we can't know who is to blame unless we know the specifics of the case.

In Nigeria nowadays, there is increase in teens pregnancy which has become a norm in many states.. I thought within myself whether is peer pressure or parents(status quo of the parents) or government(bad leadership) are contributing to it.. It is very alarming now in many towns, cities and villages. My fear is this: if it continues, then poverty alleviate programme would no longer work again...

What's the blame game going to achieve? No one is to be blamed.

Many teens who get pregnant are naïve, and they are not properly educated about sex and myths that surround it.

Many parents are too busy to even know what their kids do under their roof. The other day my neighbor's daughter told me she was expecting a guy (classmate) to visit her. Her dad had gone to the club at lekki, her mom to the salon, her brother and cousin to play/train at the football field. So she felt it was okay for a guy to come visit. On talking with her, I found out they have been having passionate kisses after their GCE exams, and even planned to kiss on the said day. I was disturbed. And her parents think she's a saint.

The government on its own has inculcated sexx education into the school curriculum for all ages. From basic elementary science and health education, basic science and biology, students are taught the rudiments of sexx and as they progress, they become aware. Also, government trains corpers, liase with SFH, ARFH and some other NGOs to promote awareness. They are trying, but its not enough.

Have you thought about the media? What they portray? When Hannah Montana turns bad girl Miley Cyrus of the wrecking ball fame, and gets 5million likes on youtube? When Bev went to do live porrn at BBA and got such a huge welcome back? Nigerian music videos are all but portraying porn. These kids have hormones running wild already, the media is the fuel they need to jump into bed. The media is destroying these kids. There's no control to what they have access to on the www. Its crazy, I tell you.

Instead of blaming and accusing, let's turn that energy over to educating and monitoring/mentoring.

Woow!!! That is nice.. Our "blame" is not to criticize but to identify the problems and the parties involved.. If we can identify the problems, then solution should be the next...

In as much as parents and the govt have roles to play as regards teenage pregnancy, the major portion of the blame is on the teenager.

No matter how much factors influence anybody, there's still that place of choice and will. Sebi na the teenager enjoy am, ehn make in enjoy the blame too naa. tongue
