THE HIGHEST FORM OF WORSHIP

1 Sam 15:22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

In God's kingdom, Partial obedience (not obeying in any area or not being wholehearted in obedience) is considered to be disobedience while delayed obedience is rebellion (James 2:10). God is not as interested in the sacrifice you offer or in the instruction you obey as He is in the heart with which you do it (1 Samuel 2:3; Isaiah 1:11- 20).

We worship God by setting our hearts right with Him and by giving Him control of our lives. However, the highest of worship (which encompasses even those mentioned above) is obedience.

There are numerous examples of men and women who displayed incredible levels of obedience in the bible one of which is Noah (Genesis 6). In the days when corruption filled the earth Noah was different. There was something about him that pleased God. He was asked to build an ark which seemed stupid to people of his day as there had never been rain prior to that time.

He must have initially been able to convince some people to help out but as the weeks turned into months and the months into years with no physical proof, Noah became an object of ridicule. He must have gone through spells of depression and discouragement but he held on to God's instructions and kept on even in the face of adversity.

His obedience was a sign of deep reverence and trust; it was worship in its truest form. He and his family were saved by this act of obedience which tells me that no one who worships God by obeying Him is left without hope. Stick with God and obey Him without hesitating and you will ALWAYS come out on top.

PRAYER: From today, my priority is worshipping God by obeying Him regardless of the challenges I face.
