Looking Ahead; Jonathan's tales Of false Vows by Clerverly: 10:42am On Sep 22, 2013
Each year, the teacher consistently made the same mistakes she made in her first year without any effort to correct the mistakes all the years. The story teller sums up the moral lesson from his story: "A person who does not try to improve in his or her work becomes complacent and mediocre."
The story reminds me of President Goodluck Jonathan. After 3 and half years in office, the president’s report card is esthetically designed with false vows.
With the renewed slaughter of innocent Nigerians, no one is in doubt that Boko Haram is on the rampage. Each time Boko Haram unleashed its offensive, the president’s response and reaction to the carnage has been a reinforcement of vows. The more killings by Boko Haram, the more vows the president pledges.
To see how incapacitated and paralyzed the president has become in dealing with the Boko Haram insurgency, I decided to do a content analysis of media reports of his responses to Boko Haram and other burning national issues. What I found is repetition of vows and no action. Since repetition is the key to retention, the president has become parrot diseased in his speeches and responses to crises.

It is evident from President Jonathan’s tales of vows that all he has been doing in the last 36 months or so is whitewashing the pump which will not purify the water.
Mr. President, to overwork one’s own faults is to miss a valuable free education.
