2015 Election:
Jonathan can run-Atiku As national leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, seek for resolution of the crisis rocking the party, the leader of the parallel ‘New PDP’ and former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has declared that President Goodluck Jonathan is at liberty to contest the 2015 election if he so desires. The politics of 2015 is central to the rift in PDP as some of the rebel G7 governors are kicking against President Jonathan going into the race. But the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Dr. Godswill Akpabio said after the last peace meeting at the presidential villa that the aggrieved governors agreed at the meeting that the ambition of every member of the party is an individual thing. In an interview published in an on-line media, Atiku disagreed with those who are of the view that Jonathan should not contest 2015 election for whatever reason, and stressed that apart from a court of competent jurisdiction no group of persons on their own could stop Jonathan from participating in the electoral process in 2015. Responding to questions on the report that that was one of the conditions given by the G7 governors for peace to reign again in PDP Atiku said, “That is not correct. No person has a right to stop the other from pursuing his rights as guaranteed by the law. If President Jonathan doesn’t have the rights to contest the 2015 presidential election, only the court can make such pronouncement, not an individual or a group of individuals. It is entirely up to Dr. Jonathan to say he will run or not. My view is that with zoning in the PDP now dead, anyone qualified under the constitution is free to run.” The former vice president and one of the founders of PDP traced the problem in the ruling party to the era of former President Olusegun Obasanjo administration and emphasised that the rot in PDP was as a result of deviation from the dream of the founding fathers of the party. “It was commonly agreed upon among the founding fathers of the party that the PDP was going to be a political party that will operate and function by the rules; and that decision- making in the party would comply with democratic norms. “But along the line, and not too long after the party won the presidential election in 1999 and also won the majority of seats in the National Assembly, the PDP began to change in character and in content. “The change in character had to do with the fact that some elements in the leadership of the party began to wield an iron fist; and the change in content began when the PDP started to change its own laws to gratify the desires of a few powerful individuals in the party”. As it stands, Atiku's recent deeds shows that he's confused and desperate.

I dont believe Atiku will make such comment when already his group takes Gej as being in his 2nd tenure and also he strongly believes it is the turn of the north to produce a president for this country which is part of the gentleman's agreement on rotational presidency which Gej is also a signatory to. So i take this story as bulls#it for now. Ok

When making laws people need to look at the total picture. Saying the president will rotate between regions is good but you need to balance that with what the constitution says.

If obj had died in office in his first term would atiku had refused to be president? Will he have said the post is zoned to the sw therefore he will step down and allow another person from the sw to complete obj's tenure?

These politicians are just very selfish, thinking of only what will benefit them. If not for selfishness all they need to do is to modify their rotation agreement to allow any sitting vice president to become president in the case of death, impeachment or incapacitation of the president. And follow it up with an agreement that any sitting president will be allowed to vie for his constitutionally accepted 2 terms. Thereafter the position of the president can rotate to the next region.

but due to selfishness, they all want to be president at the same time.

I don't think Atiku did said any such things! If on the other hand,he really did, then it's obvious he is confused,or a shady,under-hand dealing has transpered between him and the Presidency.

Finally, Atiku has realised that the purpose of the Obj boys to 'involve' him in their nPDP was to create a problem between him and President Jonathan before dumping him!
Obj knows that should Atiku team up with GEJ to fight, it might smell trouble for him, going by the way he treated the former in their 2nd term and the cold war that they had been on since. It would have been a perfect opportunity for Atiku to have his pound of flesh on Obj, hiding under the powers of the President.
They had to make Atiku part of them and an enemy of the President ,first, before they fight. It is already too late for him to recant. The G-7 governors does not want him and he is not on the President's side anymore. Oops! He did it again!! Just like in 2007 when he thought he had an ally in Bola Tinubu. He has been hustled again, blinded by his lust for power.

Incredible lobbying! Trillions gone down the drain for 2015. Even almighty Atiku shuddered when the monetary offer was made but alas GEJ will give up anything to see the light of 2015. Meanwhile ASUU strike continues, 50 soldiers killed in one attack by BH and 65 others missing, hundred more civilians dead in Abuja Borno and plateau state attacks. Thousand more die-hard GEJ fans licking his butt. Naija! I love this country, do you? undecided
