Personally, I think it's a very bad idea. I think you judge a song or dance competition by public votes, because it's THAT kind entertainment.
I believe a writing competition should have a knowledgeable panel of judges who make the decision. If they go by public votes, then the most aggressive user of social media will win. Not the best writer.
What do you all think?
