Absolute balderdash, anyone who love his national team and want to support them should fund his/her own travel bill... Why should the government fund such a trip? Is that how things are done in the west?
What impact ll a 200 man delegate have on the home team in terms of support? We too like to dey deceive ourselves

263! When fg claimed the nation is bankrupt. It's either these people don't listen to what people are saying or they don't give a damn.

dude there is smthng called a budget, a financial instrument of appropriation. The country may be bankrupt in paying treasury bills bt we may be buoyant in sport allocations. Besides if & when we qualify, the revenue accrued from FIFA allocation would almost tripple the cost of this trip. Again the ticket sales (which would be paid for in full by CrossRiver state govt), broadcast rites, advert sales etc during the return leg in Calabar would double the cost of the trip. Look at the brighter side bro, our eagles have learnt to fly after a long period of failure, lets get behind them.

Most of those oga at the tops are going there for ethopian WOMEN.When we qualify for the world cup in brazil it will be worst than this, about 90% of the national assembly members would go to brazil in the name of supporting the super eagles, when i really know they are going thr to support brazilian girlz nyanch.Smh.God give me cash make i go rio de janeiro',the land of beautiful women.

nerodenero: At times, supporters' chanting and singing can have a great effect on the game's outcome. The large entourage is to an extent commendable. I don't blame your mindset, that is what our leaders have reduced us to.

200+ is hell of a lot of people to cheer the team on. Not like they'll be going out of their pockets, the FG will be responsible for their transport and welfare all through their trip. Does this sound like what a broke nation does?

Our President is wasteful. This was the same thing that was done this week when the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, when she visited South Korea with many people in her delegation. My uncle asked me if South Korea is an African country when he saw the people Patience went with.
