As we all know, both of them are under SSCE. WAEC stands for West African Examination Council while GCE stands for General Certificate Examination. GCE was originated when the exam was being conducted by the British but since WAEC has come into existence, WAEC now handles the exam which is now refers to as SSCE Oct/Nov.

However, statistics has shown that many candidates like to enroll for the one of SSCE May/June which is popularly known as WAEC.
