Social Issues And The Discriminative Profiling Of Nigeria by elbat: 7:35pm On Oct 23, 2013 |
It has become trite to associate every bad and black with Nigeria. This prejudiced thinking is so common place that you would think that only the worst of men originate from here. I recently came across this "Winning Story Entry" on WorldPress Photo Site. The photographs in question were taken in 2011. I find it absurd firstly that the documentary portrays the patrons of these Se*x workers as so "Se*x starved that they do are ready to hump anywhere...bushes, wheatfields e.t.c gosh. so much for civilizations. The introductory narration goes thus: Roadside prostitution in Italy is conducted primarily by migrant sex workers. Some of the women are victims of trafficking—they have been deceived by criminal gangs into coming to Italy, lured by promises of legitimate jobs. Others have willingly been smuggled into the country, but find prostitution the only way that they can earn enough money to send back to their families, or to pay back the thousands of euros they owe to smugglers. And thereafter such picture captions as: Sharon, a Nigerian sex worker, sits on her makeshift bed in the countryside outside Rome. Dona, a sex worker from Nigeria, stands beside her mattress in bushes outside Rome A mat used by sex workers, in a wooded area on the outskirts of Rome. Makena, from Nigeria, sits on her mattress in the woods outside Rome. An open-air room used by sex workers, in a field on the fringes of Rome. The link to the site is: http://www.worldpressphoto.org/awards/2013/daily-life/paolo-patrizi/12?gallery=6096 Well some pix here and you can share your thoughts.
