A group under the aegis of South East Progressives Assembly(SEPA) has raised the alarm
over alleged plot by Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state to clampdown on businesses
owned by non-indigenes perceived as associates of his Imo state counterpart, Owelle
Rochas Okorocha and also deal a blow on the All Progressive Congress in Abia state.
In a statement signed by its president, Ebere Uzoukwa, and made available to
Crimefacts.org, SEPA posited that a recent announcement by the state government
accusing Dr. Nyerere Anyim, the National Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress( APC)
and Goddy Chukwunyere, an oil marketer and newly appointed Director-General of Imo
Petroleum of undermining public peace and security in Aba signifies clearly the fact that Orji’s government is carrying
out her threat of crushing opposition in the state.
The statement reads in part: “Our attention has been drawn to a recent radio announcement by Abia state government
accusing one Chineye Nyerere whom they failed to truly identify as Dr. Nyerere Anyim, the National Vice-Chairman of All
Progressives Congress (APC) and Goddy Chukwunyere, an oil marketer as well as Managing Director Oil of plot to breach
public peace and security in Aba.
We have also realized that Anyim an Abia son is eying the governorship position of his state under the platform of APC while
Chukwunyere who hails from Imo is currently serving as chairman of NUPENG, Aba branch and recently appointed Director
General, Imo Petroleum by Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
“In the said announcement signed by one Cosmos Ndukwe who is said to be the chief of staff to Abia state governor the duo
of Nyerere and Chukwunyere were said to be currently moving round Aba with a Black Toyota Corolla, White Hilux Pick-Up, a
Black 406 Peugeot with four fake mobile policemen and three other persons whose identities cannot be ascertained but claim
to be journalists”.
The announcement also alleged that the ‘motive behind the alleged plot is geared towards inciting unsuspecting members of
the public in Aba against government to breach public peace and security’.
SEPA views the announcement by T.A Orji as a calculated and orchestrated ploy to launch fresh attack on some innocent
citizens for not supporting his ‘inglorious administration’ .
The group queried:”How come this fellow called Cosmos Ndukwe whom we gathered own a notorious hotel in Aba where
hoodlums are trained for purposes of satisfying the bloodletting desire of his boss has now taken over the constitutional
duties of security agencies in the state? What stopped him from alerting the police immediately for possible arrest of these
men than going on air? How come other eyes including that of security agents didn’t see these men engaging in this
nefarious act except Ndukwe and T.A Orji?
The sin of the duo of Nyerere and Chukwunyere is only their relationship with Imo state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
Having realized the desire of Abians to seek alternative platform towards returning Abia on path of glory, T.A Orji has
employed intimidation, mischief, blackmail and falsehood to destroy opposition ahead of 2015.
“Recall that Chief T.A Orji sacked non-indigenes from the state including Imolites even as scores of Abians still work in
different establishments in Imo state. A few weeks ago, the same T.A Orji abruptly stopped a ceremony organized by
Nigerian Rescue Missionaries and went as far as unleashing thugs on innocent men who had converged from different parts
of the country. The only reason behind that shameful act and cowardice is that Okorocha was billed to attend the ceremony
scheduled to hold in Abia State Polytechnic, Aba. Now, Orji and his gang are planning to launch attack on innocent and
harmless citizens under the guise of breaching pubic peace and security. Is this not a clear case of calling a dog a bad to
hang it? This madness and impunity must stop.
“We also wish to use this medium to alert Nigerians and security agencies that T.A Orji has gone further to perfect plans
aimed at crippling businesses and establishments owned by some identified non-indigenes as well as revoke ownership of
properties owned by anybody perceived to be close to Okorocha. This wickedness is hatched as a follow-up to the
embarrassing announcement, orchestrated to further intimidate and prevent innocent Abians and Igbos from exercising
their constitutional democratic rights in the state.
The group therefore called on the Inspector-General of police and other heads of security agencies to urgently investigate
this executive recklessness, impunity and threat by Abia governor and his agents. SEPA equally demanded a categorical
statement from Abia state command of the Nigerian police proving the veracity of the announcement or otherwise, urging
them to prevent T. A Orji from making good his threat of clamping down on businesses owned by non-indigenes bearing in
mind its grave consequences”.

I was in Owerri and there's a dangerous direction politics is going. If I were Rochas, I wouldn't waste my money developing anything in Mbano and Mbaise and with Orlu zone being majority, he should form ally with Mbaitoli and Ikeduru so that Governorship will be rotated between Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta block, Old Orlu block, Mbaitoli/Ikeduru block and some parts of Okigwe. Most of those Nairalanders from Imo that lie against Rochas are from that area and some places in Owerri North like Ulakwo, Emii and Emekuku. Their main reason is because of Ohakim and Agbaso and 2ndly the development of Orlu. Abia State Government is actually attacking Orlu people who make up a bulk of the Millionaires and Billionaires in Aba believing that they are the ones behind Rochas.
