Abuja - The executive members of the
Academic Staff Union of Universities
(ASUU) have disclosed that the
prolonged industrial action by the union
may end soon, Premium Times
reports.
The union made the revelation after
meeting with President Goodluck
Jonathan in the State House on Monday.
The meeting, which was held to address
the problem bedeviling the educational
sector was said to have lasted for 13
hours.
ASUU Chairman, Nasir Faggae, who
spoke to reporters after the meeting,
said the meeting yielded positive
results, though he did not disclose the
outcome of the meeting. He said the
decision of the union will be
communicated to the public as soon the
members meet.
The lecturers have been on a strike
since July over the failure of the federal
government to implement the 2009
agreement, and on Monday accused
former military President, General
Ibrahim Babangida of causing the rot in
the education sector.
