okay come demolish it nah

The Federal Government and the Lagos State Government may be heading for another round of dispute as the Federal Government yesterday told a Federal High Court in Lagos that the State Government never obtained its approval to construct the Lekki-Ikoyi Suspension Bridge.

This claim is contained in a counter-affidavit filed by the Federal Government before the court in a suit challenging the propriety of the construction of the bridge and imposition of tolls on its users.

The suit was instituted by a Lagos based lawyer, Ebun Olu-Adegboruwa.

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), the Lagos State Government and the state Attorney-General are the respondents in the suit.

The AGF and NIWA, in the said counter-affidavit disposed to by Mrs. Queen Ubah and dated, August 7, 2013, denied all the points canveassed by the state government in the suit.

The Federal Government maintained that the only option available to the state government was to seek written permission from NIWA to use the lagoon for the constructuon.

The Federal Government also stated that, “It is imperative my Lord, that the only legal option available to the Lagos State Government is to seek the consent and approval of the second respondent (NIWA) for a written permission to use the inland waterways for the construction of its suspension bridge at Ikoyi and Lekki Lagoon in the state as specified by law, rather than resort to the illegal encroachment of the statutory functions of NIWA by purported repeal of NIWA Act.”

Why do we intentionally make life so difficult for ourselves?

Welcome to being a Nigerian. It is what defines us. Cutting our nose to spite our face, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and generally frustrating each other.

LOL @ snatching defeat at the jaws of victory.
That bridge has come to stay, progress is progress no matter who carried it out. It is not a must for everybody to use that bridge, we play too much politics in this country.
