ROAD PROJECTS: Outcome of Gov. Okorocha’s Meeting with Contractors, House Members and Solads

OWELLE-STANDGovernor Rochas Okorocha, for three days, (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), met with contractors in the state handling various projects for the state government with members of the State House of Assembly, Sole Administrators and government officials from the respective local governments, in attendance with the Governor giving a marching order that all the road projects in various parts of the state must be completed before December to enable them commissioned in December. The completion of the road projects, and the primary schools would be the first phase of the arrangements, while the rest of the projects are expected to be completed before April next year.

Against the backdrop of the marching order for the completion of the road projects, the governor who met the contractors with the Assembly members and SOLADS of their respective state constituencies or LGAs approved money on the spot for each of the contractors to enable them deliver within the time frame.
The governor did not only approve money for the contractors, but also directed the committee in charge of the projects with Hon. Stan Dara as chairman to release the approved money to the contractors immediately. The second phase action for the completion of the rest of the projects would begin in January.

Each of the meetings had ended at night because the governor wanted to deal personally with each of the contractors and not through proxies. The completion of the roads would mark the beginning of road network revolution in the state. And the governor ensured that the government officials, House members and SOLADs from each of the LGAs met the governor with the contractors involved in the projects in their areas to avoid lengthy stories at the end of the day.
