Where is she working? Following the threat from governor rabiu musa kwankwoso that, she should allow all airline that want to land in kano instead of enugu to land in kano if she want to sleep well which has made her to approved Emirate, Ethiopia and turkish airline with immediate alacrity withing three week. What is she waiting for before now?

^^^Stop sounding ignorant! Was a gun held to her head when she completed the renovation of the main terminal since last year, and even added a hajj terminal to boot!? What about the aerotropolis project which includes kano, together with Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja? Would someone working against Kanos interest do all this?

You do realise that the Aviation Minister isn't paying that fool you call a governor any attention? Ethiopian Airlines had planned to serve Kano and Enugu airports months ago, so don't get a bone/r thinking it's his ill-advised threats that suddenly made Ethiopian get approval to serve kano!

You're clapping for that local thug you call a governor for threatening a ministers life abi? Pray, what would he have done if he felt he wasn't getting his way?; sent boko thugs after her? What's saving him is his useless immunity as a serving governor; if not, he would have been hurled before the SSS by the scruff of his neck to go explain what he meant by that comment!

Show proof that the Minister stopped Turkish airlines from flying to Kano for ethnic/parochial based reasons, or shut your buccal cavity for ever!

Most of you kids posting on nairaland should be in your universities this early morning.

Kano is a strategicly important location to fly to. Ulike what you'll want us to believe kano has enough demand to supply these airlines.

Don't worry very soon the 3 best airlines in the world would soon be there: emirates airline, ethiad airlines, and qatar airlines.
Stop Beefing.

While some people see it as good news, this is actually bad for the economy of Nigeria and death sentence for local airlines.

No international airline should be allowed to land and take off from four different airports in the country. They should pick two.

Either you take Lagos and Kano or Abuja and Enugu.
Yea. But was that not what Oduah and her team was trying to do? Distribute these International flights to diff Airports and give space to Local airlines. But NO, this is Nigeria where common sense is set on its head and Nepotism raised to the sky.... Imagine Northerners accusing smone like Oduah of 'hating the north', when it was d same Oduah that recently completely Remodeled and expanded d Kano Airport that they just commissioned (after more than 30yrs of no one touching it), and began d building of another International terminal for that Airport. The same Oduah that completed the TRACON centre in that Airport; made it one of d stations for d newly installed Doppler Systems; provided a new Wind Shield System in d Airport; as well as other Infrastructural Upgrades. Yet that Hyncinct Gov of theirs says 'Oduah is against Kano', just so as to further himself as d 'defender of Kano and d North' against 'outsiders'- the same method a tiny Northern Elite hv used to successfully perpetuate themselves on a hapless and gullible majority!!... Out of d 11 Airports been Remodeled in d 1st phase, 6 are in d north. Out of d 9 new Perishable Cargo Terminals been constructed across d nation (for the very 1st time in Nigeria), 5 are in d north. Yet Minister Oduah is supposed to be 'against the north'! And you know the real shame is? Most of the beaten Majority Northern bliv it; they bliv what their 'Defenders' tell them....

It seems you only read but you hardly comprehend. How do we move forward when our judgements are always beclouded by ethnic bigotry? Whoever errs irrespective of tribe, religion and position should be brought to justice. You support her because you are of the same ethnic group and I know full well that if it was another ethnic group, your position would be different.

They are only picking international passengers. The local airlines should find ways to attract mid-class Nigerians. Flying local in Nigeria, is way too high. Imagine Lagos---Warri is N36,000. why?

You re correct. Lagos to Warri for one way is N36,000, Lagos to Johannesburg N90,000 return with Arik. Is too expensive.

So your Kwankwaso built and remodeled the once stinking Airport before commanding Princess Oduah to bring International flights for him to chew gworo in. Even a hundred northern presidents didn't dare.

1st, which 'our' money? Who give you d money? Do you 'beggers' up north contribute anytin to d nation's purse? When did you people stop been d miserable leeches and parasites you always have been, a State brought about by yr shameless and very small-minded tiny Elites?? 'Our' money, in deed........ 2nd, was money not available to other previous Ministers in the last 30yrs? How cud they allowed the Sector to get to d Mess it was b4 Oduah came and started rescuing and transforming the Sector IN EVERY POSSIBLE ASPECT?? .... You chaps can accuse Oduah of many other things, including that indiscretion of approving d purchase of cars above her limit and in breach of extant Rules, but nobody shld try to belittle both her Vision and considerable Achievements in the Aviation Sector, esp not on some sillly grounds. I cannot not think of any other Minister who have done/doing a finer job in that sector in so short a time..

British Airways has been Landing in Kano since the 70's so what vision are you talking about?

Ethiopia Airways lands in Kano Whoopeee doooo!!!!

So who was in charge, last year when Air Nigeria staffs brought out a begging bowl at Gatwick Airport in London, asking for money to buy fuel?
Re: Ethiopian Airlines To Begin Flights To Kano by Tats(m): 5:03pm On Nov 11, 2013
Some of you say that International Airlines should only be allowed to fly into two cities? and why is that? you say because local airlines will become dead.

Do you mean that the only people that fly local airlines are those who are connecting to another Nigerian city to get on an international flight? Hence, if they stop connecting, then local airlines will become dead? Please grow up!! Nigeria has a large enough population for domestic traffic to sustain its domestic airlines. It is the inefficiencies, corruption, lack of vision of most of those in power, the high cost of doing business in Nigeria and high fares that make our domestic airlines not to work. Majority of Nigerians who travel by road domestically could have traveled by Air if things were right with our economy and the airline industry.

If you live in Abuja or PH or Sokoto (as examples) and fly into Lagos from a specific international flight such as Emirates, you know how difficult the experience is to transfer to a domestic flight successfully with your luggage and get you to your final destination. You might even have to spend a night in Lagos depending on when the international flight arrives Lagos. It is even worse when you are flying out as you need to get on a domestic flight earlier than necessary to get you to Lagos before you take your international flight, otherwise, you could miss the international flight due to many different useless reasons given by the domestic airlines.

Some of you say that other countries restrict the number of cities that airlines fly into, but do you realise that many airlines fly into multiple destinations in other countries? It is all about Bilateral Services agreement. BA flies into many US cities and if the US airlines want to fly into many UK cities, I suppose they can.

Dumbo!! So an airline that claim to be the national flag carrier of Nigeria cannot fund its own fuel expenses! so why do they have a license to operate internationally?

Are you familiar with the phrase Fit and proper test if an airline cannot afford to pay for its own fuel, why is it flying?

Please read about air Nigeria
It is owned by private investors.

It is NOT run by the ministry of aviation.
It is no longer flying anyway.
Any business can go bankrupt.
