why not get a chair in an existing salon ?
i'm sure there will be a few female salons who can carve out a small part of their shop for a barbing chair and a mirror ,so that way all you need is your skill and tools and of course a few hair care products .
Those women will have sons , brothers, husbands and if you can cut female hair , better for you sef

Re: Is N50,000 Enough To Startup A Barbing Saloon? by Nobody: 4:18pm On Nov 15, 2013
dude, how wouldn't 50k be enough? yo the more you keep prolonging, the less your chances of opening that joint. If i were in your shoes, 50k would be more than enough. however, if your in some highbrow places, it might be challenging but not impossible. I cant really do the break down but a couple of n199az already did in the first 2 pages.......

Startup summary

2 Rotating Chairs (although ordinary chairs may do for a start): N10,000

1 Long waiting chair: N10,000

Tables: N6,000

Mirrors: N12,000

2 good fairly used Clippers: N9,000

Sterilizer: N15,000

Other petty spending: N30,000

Total: N117,000

come on brah that is just way expensive. Trust me, you can start with way cheap equipment. I know a lot of n199az in abj that started with way smaller stuff and have grown quite well......with less than 50k, you would definitely start up but you gotta be disciplined, dedicated and determined

This days branding is key to prosperity when it comes to business. I have same idea, but my estimate was close to 200k because I want a very attractive, comfortable. I hope to start next year in Benin. Its a nice business idea especially this days of "fine boy".

nutty_hnic:

you are one hell of a barber...nice!

He is right. I was a barber in my ppa while serving. I was lucky my landlord gave me the shop to start for free to pay later.
My advise for you is to start small and expand gradually. dont start planning so big you end up not able to start anything. And remember that quality matters even if you are starting small.

My suggestion is that u employee on a percentage basis, and u give him incentive sometimes. Like: A % for d barbershop owner, anoda % for the barber and other % for the shop maintenance.

my friend I most tell you that if truly you want to own your own barbing saloon and get the best from it then it is better to start and operate it yourself.

It's NOT enough to even rent a shop bro. Barbing saloon is one Business that requires shop unless you intend starting it in your compound/House.

But there is ONE PROFITABLE BUSINESS THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY SHOP FOR YOU TO START UP.

YOU SELL YOU ITEMS ON KONGA, JUMIA, DEALDEY, KAYMU, etc WITHOUT WALKING FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE HAWKING/STRESSING YOURSELF.

YOU NEED JUST 20k TO START THIS BUSINESS AND YOUR 100% INTEREST IS GUARANTEED WITH 2WEEKS SELLING YOUR ITEMS ON JUMIA, KONGA, DEALDEY.

IT'S 'IMPORTATION BUSINESS'
