safarigirl: Is that an ethnic group? No, it's a geographical zone. He said we need an Igbo coach, Keshi is an Igbo man as far as Google and Wikipedia are concerned. He's just not from Eastern Nigeria, but he speaks Igbo as good as any other Igbo man.
He's a southsouth, So anyone who bears igbo name is automatically an igbo?

Long expected. They are always looking for ways to sack him and not pay him his arrears. Brings me to our National Pledge. " To Serve Nigeria.................."

Discussing it at all is the most foolish thing ever done by NFF.

Let them try it if they get liver, dey no fit pay keshi salary na foreign technical adviser they wan employ.

What is special about Steven Keshi? He is just playing on luck. We want an igbo man as the coach of the Super Eagles. Most of the players in the Eagles are igbos anyway.

Now that's as ridiculous posts come

The fraud perpetrated by the NFF is being condemned left right center

and you think the one way to destroy unanimous condemnation is to introduce tribalism into the thread

good try but very disgraceful . . . .some of you have no shame

heres the bane of nigeria! everything must boil down to where you are from. we are discussing SK ethnicity instead of his technical coaching abilities and his performance/result as a coach.

Nigeria i hail!

please don't provoke me with your ignorance. Except he's Ikwerre i.e from Rivers, anyone bearing an Igbo name from Delta state is Delta IGBO, not a South South. I repeat, that's a geographical area, NOT an ethnicity, please make use of your dictionary to know the difference. You're arguing with someone who's half Delta Igbo, so me I don't know my origin too. Nigerdelta indeed.

Appointing a foreigner to boss over Keshi might spark a revolution in this country.

The fact that people who don't know much about football manage our football worries me. These guys are heartless and extremely corrupt, too. Making "illegal" money is the inspiration behind this idea of hiring a foreign coach to boss over a coach who has surpassed all expectations, a coach who has surpassed all foreign super eagles coaches in the past, perhaps except Westerhof, despite getting very little support from football administrators in the country.

Dem dey steal enough, we no fit do anything. One of D small things wey dey give us joy, wey be Keshi, dem wan bring confusion come now. E no go happen. We're ready to sack them if dem Bleep up Keshi.

mikeansy: This is pure fraud and has nothing to do with football.

Somebody wants to hire a Foreigner, inflate their Salary and collect kick-back. We have seen this kind of fraud before. It is amazing that NFF that can not find money to pay Keshi's wages on time will find money to pay a foreign coach.

I call on President Jonathan to intervein in this issue and simply warn NFF and co not to alter what Keshi is building. enough of this drama and shame.

We all remember how Glenn Hoddle revealed that he was clearly told to request more than the amount he wanted for the job otherwise he will not get the job. Lars Lagerback was offered the job and even after Largerback perfromed woefully at the world cup they still offered him a 2 years extension but Largerback turned it down.

Let Presidency intervein and stop NFF from misbehaving. If FIFA prevent us from going to Brazil because of political intervention so be it, this nonsense has just got to stop!

We dont need Foreign Coach, Keshi must lead us to Brazil!!!!!!!!
what? Naija we are finished. Chei!!

sounds like not everyone in NFF agree with the madness. More NFF officials who agree with Mike Umeh should better speak up now before it is too late.

Amos Adamu has also courageously lent his voice in support of Stephen Keshi.

Brazil 2014: No foreign coach for Eagles —NFF
Written by EMMANUEL MBEKI - ABUJA
Friday, 22 November 2013 00:00

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has ruled out hiring a foreign technical adviser to superintend the current Super Eagles bench led by coach Stephen Keshi, saying it is a distraction that should be avoided outright for now.

Speaking to sportwriters at the Glasshouse on Thursday, the first vice-president of the NFF, Chief Mike Umeh said the results being chalked up by the current technical crew of the Eagles are enough for any forthright person to look away from such issue. “Why would anybody be thinking of such for now, especially now that Keshi and his team are giving us result? To us at the board level it is a distraction that we will not allow anybody, no matter how highly placed, to impose on us.”

The one-time team manager of the Green Eagles posited that what the current national teams were enacting was revolutionary.”

“There’s a revolution now in Nigeria football and this is evident from results from the Eaglets, the women national teams and lately, the Super Eagles, especially if you saw what our boys did with the mighty Italians in London.”

He also noted that the Super Eagles were the first African country to pick a ticket to the 2014 World Cup and “moreso, without the usual Presidential Task Force, like what happened in the past.”

I am not surprised at all. Reading their body language, I knew all along that the Minister and the NFF opportunists will either sack Keshi or make him to work under a technical adviser. January 2014 nations cup will provide the perfect opportunity for them to strike! Keshi should watch out!
