Former military President General
Ibrahim Babamosi Babangida
yesterday advised Nigerians to
emulate former vice President Atiku
Abubakar who has refused to resort
to any other means to seek redress
when his rights are violated.
IBB was speaking during the public
presentation of a book entitled
“Landmark Constitutional Law Cases
in Nigeria 2004 -2007: the Atiku
Abubakar cases.
IBB who was the chairman of the
occasion described Atiku as a true
champion of Nigeria’s democracy
and therefore called on Nigerians to
emulate him by resorting to judicial
process to seek redress where their
rights have been violated.
He noted that the book represents
and tackled many of the naughty
issues in Nigeria’s politics including
the question of INEC’s powers via
political party and the choice of
candidates, the removal of elected
persons from office and protecting the
rights of Nigerians from impunity.
What emerged from these cases
according to IBB is that Nigeria is
seriously developing into a
democracy.
In his remarks, Governor Aliyu
Babangida described Atiku as dogged
and the best president that we have
not got yet.

Popoola of the Faculty of Law,
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)
Ile Ife recommended the book which
was dedicated to the late President
Musa Yar Adua to anyone who takes
intelligent interest in the role of law in
public affairs.
