National Mirror: Jimoh Ibrahim Shops For New MD, Gets Cold Shoulder

The crisis in one of Nigeria’s daily national newspapers, National Mirror, deepens as the owner of the newspaper, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim continues to shop for a new Managing Director but is getting cold shoulder from possible candidates.

On Sunday, Ibrahim invited Seyi Fasugba to resume back as the Editor of the daily edition after demoting him few months ago as editor of one of the weekend editions of the paper.

The decision to recall Fasugba was informed by the inability of Ibraheem to get his desired target, one of the line editors in the paper.

Fasugba was back as the editor on Sunday. However, Ibrahim continues to search for a managing director without success. He had already approached a serving MD of a national newspaper who has rejected the offer. Another newspaper man in a national newspaper in Ibadan has also been contacted but he too has rejected the offer.

Investigation by thegazellenews.com revealed that those who have rejected Ibrahim’s offer are afraid of the way Ibrahim owes his staff with impunity.

Apart from this, they are also not comfortable with his ‘hire and fire’ attitude and his arrogance posture.
